A new combination of familiar techniques of signal processing, which is called a wavelet cross-correlation analysis, is proposed and its main properties are also presented. The wavelet cross-correlation analysis can express the cross-correlation characteristics of two arbitrary signals as a function of time delay. As the practical application to vortex flow, the cross-correlation characteristics of the two velocity signals in a plane turbulent jet at various positions are analyzed for revealing the similar structure of the eddy and apparent flapping motions in terms of time delay and period.
