A Study on Legal Prospects of Digital Collections' Fair Use: Focused on the Article 31 of Copyright Act

The study aims to discuss on legal prospects of digital collections` fair use through an analysis of treaties and legislations domestic and international. Based on analysis of leading researches and literature, it discusses legal principles of fair use and defines digital collections` concept and types. For understanding the actual legal system on fair use, limitations and exceptions of copyrights which are presented in treaties, such as `Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works` and`Copyright Convention`, each nation`s laws, and judicial precedents. Especially, a legal dispute between `Technische Universit{\ddot{a}}t Darmstadt` and Eugen Ulmer KG, which debates on library`s rights for digitizing their collections without the rightholder`s permission, is analyzed. As a result, this study analyzes its implications for the improvement of the existing copyright system in Korea.

A Study on the Literature Review of Information Use Behavior in Specialized Fields

This research reviews literature regarding information use behavior published during the period of 1970 to 2014 in Korea. It aims to identify the researchers` information use behavior in specialized fields and contributes to provide the effective information services based on users` needs. In order to do that, it reviews research papers that are associated with information use behavior by primarily examining the subjects, methods, variables, results, and suggestions of collected literature. It reveals some differences among researchers according to their fields, career, and status while researchers in various fields make appearance the change of information use up to digital environments. It is suggested that information services based on the users` characteristics should be provided.


A Study on the Information Use Behaviors of Researchers in the Field of Business Administration for Improving Information Services

The purpose of this study is to analyze researchers` information use behaviors in the field of business administration in order to provide library services based on user information needs. The methods of this study targeted the members of K Society in the business administration field, and employed user survey using a web-based questionnaire. A total of 202 users answered the questionnaire. The questionnaire focused on items such as by age and status, general information use, electronic resources use, SNS and mobile services information use, library and information center use, and specialized business administration library use. The results of this study suggested improving several library services.


A Study on the Itinerant Librarian at Small Libraries

Since 2010, the itinerant librarian project has aimed to support small libraries and to establish cooperative systems between public libraries and small libraries. However, the project has been criticized for several issues, although there are some positive evaluations. In this context this study aims to analyze various issues of the project and to provide alternative strategies. Based on analyzing previous studies the study discusses the concept and social background of itinerant librarians. Furthermore, it explores the issues of the project, including low awareness and employment instability of itinerant librarians through the interviews with participants of the project. As a result, the study provides six alternative strategies to improve the project.


A Study on Public Librarians' Job Satisfaction by Management and Employment Styles: Focused on Public Libraries in Daegu Metropolitan City

This study aims at analyzing librarians' job satisfaction at public libraries in Dae-gu, according to various management and employment styles. As a theoretical study, it discusses management styles of public libraries and argues concepts and factors of job satisfaction. Based on the discussion the study selects 7 factors of job satisfaction and conducts a survey. All the respondents are satisfactory to 4 factors; job, co-worker, superior officer, and business affairs, but are not satisfactory to 3 factors; wages, welfare, and employment. There are differences between contract managed libraries and direct managed libraries. At local government's contract managed libraries there is no difference in a sense of job insecurity between full-time and part-time librarians. The remarkable differences between full-time and part-time librarians are concerning participation in decision making processes and discretion in business affairs. The most significant differences between them are about wages, welfare and employment.
