We describe an 18-month-old male child presenting with delayed milestones. MRI revealed absent lateral and third ventricles associated with fusion of the posterior cerebral hemispheres.

... Aventriculy is a very rare observation in humans since only 7 cases have been reported so far. Fusion of the hemispheres was noted in 5 cases: alobar holoprosencephaly [2,6], semilobar holoprosencephaly [3], and fusion of the occipital poles [1,4]. It is interesting to note that fusion of the occipital poles is not a recognized anatomical form of holoprosencephaly and we propose that such a malformation should be added to the already described forms of this disease. ...
