... The etiology of aneurysm was dissection in 21 (40%), medial degeneration in 26 (49%), and giant cell aortitis in 6 (11 %). Of the 21 patients with aortic dissection, 12 were symptomatic and the diameter of aortic segments ranged from 5 to 14 cm in external diameter.
