... Regardless of their ecological importance, the status of many species remains poorly known and there is limited information on their ecology. This is particularly true in the Indo-Malayan region, which supports a high diversity of nocturnal birds, especially owls Strigidae and frogmouths Podargidae (Holyoak 1999, König et al. 1999, Marks et al. 1999, Wells 1999.
