The Parking process is a difficult manoevre, both in respect of defining the task as well as the safety aspects. The system ergnomics of Parking and the associated driver assistance systems currently on the market were analysed and the requirements of the driver were examined while using different systems. The requirements for the assistance have been derived from an analysis of the driver requirements and an integrated display and operating concept has been developed and evaluated. The conclusions provide ergonomic recommendations and rules for Parking as well as an evaluation of the methods used in this study.
