Otro efecto presumiblemente perjudicial es la disminución de caudales debida a captaciones de agua, que pueden llegar a secar los cauces durante el estiaje (constatada en las subpoblaciones del Oka y Gorbea). La mortalidad en determinadas balsas represadas sin vías de escape, la contaminación orgánica generada por la concentración de ganado y la presencia de depredadores de larvas, como truchas o cangrejos , son otros problemas mencionables, cuyas repercusiones demográficas se han evidenciado en otros ámbitos geográficos (Ayllón & Domínguez, 2001; Bosch et al., 2005).
