During this period Konrad Bloch and Feodor Lynen were awarded the Nobel Prize for their work on devising the pathway for the synthesis of cholesterol and the epidemiological link was made between cholesterol and coronary artery disease by Ancel Keys from the University of Minnesota 3-5 .
