Adult Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Device

Authors:

Abstract

The purpose of this project is to design and implement a prototype for a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Device as a graduation project in our final year in 2017. The device does automatic CPR according to the latest protocols by American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association. The device uses a pneumatic cylinder to do about 100 pushes and releases in each minute, where each push is 5 cm. The device makes alert each 30 pushes to remind the rescuer to do artificial ventilation. We added a unit to acquire the patients ECG signal so it can be displayed on PC or android phone through special programs we designed. The device overcome the manual CPR problems. We tried to use a linear DC motor and designed the circuits to make the device more portable but there was no suitable linear motor in my country at that time. Since our project was a prototype and there was no financial aid at all, it cannot be used in hospitals and it need more development in manner of the mobility and safety. The device, if developed more, can be used in hospitals, public crowded places, during transportation, and in x-ray laboratories. The device’s cost was about only 10% off its competences.
