The National Atlas of Bangladesh is a comprehensive collection of maps prepared to portray the spatial dimensions of the country's historical, politico-administrative, physical, environmental, infrastructural, demographic, economic, social, cultural and regional/local features. Community-Based Risk Assessment: Hazard and Disaster Risk Assessment by using GIS

In this risk assessment, CRA (Community Risk Assessment) methods are conduct to collect data of hazard, risk, and vulnerability. The data collected from the local stakeholder manipulated with various technological methods such as remote sensing, GPS and GIS are used to create a risk map. Besides, different maps from government and private sectors are helpful in this respect. The goal for this risk mapping is to deliver quality data that increases public awareness about natural hazard risk, which leads to proper action that reduces risk to life and property.

Bangladesh INFORM Sub-National Risk Index 2022

INFORM is an open-source risk assessment methodology for humanitarian crises and disasters. An INFORM Subnational risk index shows a detailed picture of risk and its components that is comparable across a single region or country. [Show full abstract] as sustainable development. The subnational INFORM risk index 2022 for Bangladesh gathered data from 64 Districts and 553 Upazilas and/or Thanas across the country. A total of 89 indicators have been collected and indexed by following the INFORM sub-national risk index guideline. The process of development in collaboration with the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief and the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics.

The modern life all around the world including Bangladesh requires the service of electricity. But there is a great difference between the demand and supply of electricity in the country. The scarcity of electricity is hindering the development of the country. [Show full abstract] system can be valuable to produce environmental friendly low cost electricity for all. The broad aim of this research work is to study the feasibility of the use of solar panels in Bangladesh. Both primary and secondary data sources have been used to conduct the study. Primary data includes the collection of information and functionality of the available solar panels in Bangladesh. Secondary sources includes the cloud coverage and sunshine data from the meteorological department of Bangladesh from 2000-2009. GIS technology has been used to show the spatial distribution of the cloud coverage and sunshine in different parts of the country. The research reveals that on an average the country receives about 3-4 hours of cloud cover in a day which is vertically distributed from west to east of the country. On the other hand, the country receives on an average of 5-7 hours of sun shine per day. The research suggests that Solar Panels should be selected on the basis of their capability and the distributional pattern of sunshine in the country.
