KEY WORDSBasidiomycota, distribution, diversity, fungi, Neotropics, South America
Introduction
In “The Agaricales in Modern Taxonomy”, Singer (1986) employed a broad concept of the order Agaricales. Based on his
experience in the Neotropics, he emphasized on micromorphology of the basidiospores and also integrated anatomical
characters of the basidiomata (Matheny et al. 2006) of the gilled mushrooms to provide a taxomonic framework for this
order of fungi that includes 26 families and 350 genera (Kirk et al. 2001), being Amanita, Coprinellus, Cortinarius,
Laccaria, and Lepiota (Varga et al. 2019) the genera with more species. The Agaricales (Basidiomycota,
Agaricomycetidae) clade has a dynamic evolutionary history that positions it as one of the most diverse and larger groups
of fungi in the world; it is estimated that there are approximately 21,000 species described (Hibbett et al. 2007, Varga et
al. 2019).
The earliest record of Agaricales order from Bolivia was given by Montagne (1856), who reported Entoloma schistaceum,
Marasmius ardosiaceus and Mycena cyanescens. Fries (1909) collected and reported thirteen Agaricales in the first
mycological expedition in Bolivia: Bovista pusilla, Calvatia candida, C. cyathiformis, C. pygmaea, Clavaria albipes,
Cyathus montagnei, C. poeppigii, C. stercoreus, Marasmius velutipes, Mycenastrum corium, Tulostoma berteroanum,
Vascellum abscissum, and Panellus pusillus. In 1921, as part of the Mulford Biological Exploration project lead by H.
Rusby, only two Agaricales (Armillaria alphitophylla and Schizophyllum commune) were collected; two years later,
Mycena tricolor was collected by the Bolivian botanist and naturalist M. Cárdenas (Stevenson & Cárdenas 1949).
Stevenson and Cárdenas (1949) compiled a list of known species up to that moment, in which 460 species of Bolivian
fungi were reported. Currently, all these records are the first and oldest known Agaricales species to Bolivia.
Literature references on Bolivian mycology use Singer’s concept for the order Agaricales. Overall, they are scarce; in the
last 20 years there have been dispersal contributions to some taxa, e.g. Gasteromycetes (Rocabado et al. 2007, Maillard &
Rocabado 2019), Pucciniales (Vánky 2009, Vánky et al. 2009) or Ustilaginales (Piepenbring 2002, 2003a, 2003b). In our
previous contribution (Melgarejo-Estrada et al. 2020) the scattered information for the species of Agaricales with dark and
pink spore prints was compiled in a checklist of 101 species known to date in Bolivia. In the present contribution, we
compile the available information on the species of Agaricales with white or pale spore prints found in Bolivia in a new
checklist, thus establishing a baseline for future mycological studies.
Materials & methods
We consulted all existing bibliography from 1909 to 2020 (articles, books and monographs) that included records of
Agaricales for Bolivia with white or pale spore prints. Virtual databases were also consulted (Index Fungorum and
Swedish herbaria database Museum of Natural History). Only one doctoral thesis on taxonomy of Bolivian Marasmius
was considered for this review (Wenck, 2012). New local distribution records are extended and presented for known
species, based on original data and materials collected in Bolivia by the first author.

New local distribution record

Results
A total of 152 publications were consulted for records of fungi for Bolivia, of which 47 contained information and
citations on Bolivian white or pale spore members of Agaricales; these citations were used for the present checklist. We
found 315 records referring to 264 species belonging to 55 genera and 15 families of Agaricales, phylum Basidiomycota;
these records are listed in the present checklist and ordered alphabetically within each taxa level. This information is
presented in two sections: [a] white or pale spore Agaricales and [b] lichens that form associations with white or pale
spore Agaricales. At the same time, new reports of local distribution based on original data and materials gathered by the
first author in Bolivia expand the known distribution of 11 species (Table 3).

Overall, Marasmiaceae is the family with the most abundant species in this checklist with 148 species, followed by
Omphalotaceae with 38 species and, Hygrophoraceae with 19 species, being the most representative genera Marasmius
(115 species), Marasmiellus (33), Cora (11) and Mycena (8) (Table 4).
The most complete bibliography corresponds to Marasmiaceae family, which was studied by Singer (1964b, 1966b,
1976) and recently by Wenck (2012), including complete descriptions of species. The other contributions compiled in the
present checklist are dispersed and fragmented or are part of larger studies in the neotropical (Singer 1960a, 1966a, 1973b,
1974,1975) and/or bordering countries, e.g, Argentina, Brazil (Wartchow 2014, Wartchow et al. 2014).

Conclusions
In this study, 264 species covering 15 families and 55 genera of Agaricales mushrooms that produce white or pale spore
prints previously reported for Bolivia were compiled. Based on the compiled data, the most species-abundant families are
Marasmiaceae, Omphalotaceae and Hygrophoraceae. Most collecting trips have been carried out in the Provincia
Yungueño Peruano-Boliviana in the department of La Paz (144 records) and the Provincia Amazónica Suroccidental in
Beni department (104 records). Additionally, the distribution of 11 species was expanded with original data and materials,
presenting new records of local distribution.
Based on recent fieldwork we carried out, we consider that it is necessary to increase efforts to explore the mycological
diversity in Bolivia. Overall, this work contributes to the knowledge of richness and distribution of Bolivian Agaricales,
constituting a solid baseline for future studies in the region.

Oudemansiella of Physalacriaceae, Agaricomycetes, Basidiomycota is widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions, and are known as saprophytic macrofungi. Species of this genus are edible, flavorful, nutritious, and medicinal. Hence, there is increasing attention to the value of these under-utilized myko-resources. In this context, this status review aimed to provide a species checklist of Oudemansiella and their distribution worldwide, cultivation requirements for growth and production, nutritional and bioactive compositions, and biological properties. A total of 25 species of Oudemansiella was recorded in 31 countries in Asia, North and South America, Australia, Africa, and Europe. O. canarii was found to be the most widely distributed, followed by O. platensis, O. cubensis, O. melanotricha, O. submucida, and O. australis. China had the greatest number of reported Oudemansiella species. O. canarii was the most commonly cultivated species using agro-industrial wastes such as sugarcane bagasse, eucalyptus sawdust, cotton seed hull, corncob, sawdust, and rice straw. Oudemansiella species contain carbohydrates, protein, amino acids, crude fiber, crude fat, minerals, and bioactive compounds such as oudemansin A and B, dihydroxerulin, xerulinic acid, and strobilurin C. Extracts and isolated bioactive compounds from Oudemansiella were reported to exhibit antioxidant, antifungal, antimicrobial, cytotoxic properties, and anti-trypanosomatid infection. To the best of our knowledge, this review establishes the most comprehensive checklist of Oudemansiella species. The presented data can be used as valuable information for further exploration and exploitation of the maximum profitability of Oudemansiella species. This review also provides status, challenges, and research opportunities that will ignite attention among researchers and scientists worldwide.

This chapter provides a brief overview of the diversity of fungi of Colombia, both in comparison with other organisms and in a global context, including an assessment of the current state of knowledge and an estimate of the actual species richness. The current checklist of fungi of Colombia, including lichenised and fungus-like organisms unrelated to the true Fungi, comprises 7,241 species. Assessments of biodiversity-rich countries are usually based on plants and vertebrates, but here we provide an expanded perspective, including fungi and selected invertebrates. The documented diversity of fungi of Colombia is lower than that of plants, vertebrates, and insects, which we attribute to the lack of rigorous taxonomic studies and systematic inventories. Colombia ranks second in plant and vertebrate diversity in the world, trailing only Brazil. However, in terms of known fungal diversity, Colombia is not among the top ten countries and even far behind smaller temperate countries, such as France, Italy, the UK, Germany, and Japan, again highlighting the need for much additional work. Estimates of the existing species richness of fungi of Colombia oscillate between 27,430 and 380,000 species, depending on the extrapolation method. Although these numbers may seem exaggerated, currently reported numbers for the United States already exceed 45,000 and estimates for Mexico predict up to 260,000 species. To catalogue the diversity of the Colombian funga fully, a thorough assessment is needed, including molecular studies of presumably known taxa that may include morphologically cryptic species and effective detection methods for ecologically hidden fungi.

Following a large-scale phylogenetic study of the lichenized genus Cora (Basidiomycota: Agaricales: Hygrophoraceae), we formally describe 70 new species, honouring the seventieth birthday of David Leslie Hawksworth, one of the preeminent figures in mycology and lichenology in the past 50 years. Based on an updated phylogeny using the ITS fungal barcoding locus, we now recognize 189 taxa in a genus that until recently was considered to represent a single species; including this contribution, 92 of these are formally recognized, including five taxa based on historical names or collections that have not been sequenced. Species of Cora can be recognized by a combination of morphological (size, colour, lobe configuration, surface hairs, hymenophore size and shape), anatomical (thallus thickness, cortex structure, photobiont type, hyphal papillae), and ecogeographical features (substrate, habitat, distribution), and a keytable allowing the identification of all accepted taxa is provided. The new species are: Cora accipiter Moncada, Madriñán & Lücking spec. nov., C. applanata Moncada, Soto-Medina & Lücking spec. nov., C. arachnodavidea Moncada, Dal Forno & Lücking spec. nov., C. arborescens Dal Forno, Chaves & Lücking spec. nov., C. arcabucana Moncada, C.
