Chapter 1 is made up of five parts: (1) Background and Theoretical Framework of the Study, (2) Statement of the Problem and the Hypotheses, (3) Significance of the Study, (4) Definition of Terms, and (5) Delimitation of the Study.
Part One, Background and Theoretical Framework of the Study, presents the underlying reasons for the conduct of the research and framework that serves as basis and support of the study.
Part Two, Statement of the Problem and the Hypothesis, states the general as well as the specific problems and the hypothesis to be tested.
Part Three, Significance of the Study, describes the stakeholders of the research and the manner by which they are able to benefit from the result.
Part Four, Definition of terms, defines the important terms and the key variables used in the study, conceptually and operationally.
Part Five, Delimitation of the Study, defines the boundaries of the research in terms of research design, participants, sampling and sampling procedures, research instrument, statistical data analysis and alpha level of significance.
