Introduction
Banda is one of the seven districts of Bundelkhand
region of Uttar Pradesh which is at the bank of river Ken.
The floristic studies of Banda district were done2 as a
pioneer work. After that there were studies in detail for
the Flora of Upper Gangetic Plain. A worker8 recorded
Alectra parasitica
a new species from Banda. Total 106
new species were reported as contribution to the flora of
Banda6,7,11,12,13. Ethnobotanical studies of Banda district
were done4,10. The present paper gives an enumerative
account of additional three woody plant species that are
new to the region.
Material and Method
The plants were identified as per taxonomic
classification using state and regional flora1,5,9,14.
Specimens of the plants mentioned in this paper have
been deposited in “BUAT Herbarium”, College of Forestry,
Banda University of Agriculture and Technology, Banda.
The continued surveys and extensive review of literature
revealed that the three plant species are new records for
the flora of Banda. A brief taxonomic description of these
plant species with correct nomenclature, phenology,
localities and photographs (Fig. 1-3) are given in this
paper.

The plants of family Fabaceae are compiled from district flora of Bundelkhand region (U.P.). The region includes seven district, i.e. Banda, Jalaun, Lalitpur, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Chitrakoot and Jhansi. During the study of herbarium specimens of these districts from Duthie herbarium, Department of Botany, University of Allahabad, family Fabaceae consists 78 species of 36 genera in the Bundelkhand region, while Duthie (1903-29) included 57 genera and 189 species of family Fabaceae in the Flora of Upper Gangetic Plain from this region. The region is represented by 51 herbs, 8 shrubs, 8 climbers and 11 trees of legumes.

Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh comprise with seven districts viz. Banda, Chitrakoot (separated from Banda), Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Hamirpur and Mahoba (separated from Hamirpur). Recently it was re-investigated as district floras and recorded 159 species of trees from the area. Out of which 105 species are recollected and 41 species are found to be common mainly due to their plantation or cultivation for socio-cultural value while 52 species of trees are not collected from any district. The forests have much more pressure for fuel wood and small timber than what they can withstand as a matter of sustained productivity.
