The kinetics of diffusion phase growth in a cylindrical specimen is investigated analytically with and without allowance for internal stresses. The analysis allows for differences in the mole volumes of the diffusing elements. The results of the analysis are compared with experimental data obtained for plane-parallel specimens of a multiphase Cu--Zn system. It is shown that internal stresses have a significant effect on the kinetics of phase growth by affecting the magnitude and even the sign of vacancy flows. Graphs, Photomicrographs. 14 ref.--V.L.
