Microtoena patchoulii (Clarke ex Hook.) Wu & Hsuan of Lamiaceae family is highly aromatic plant found in Southeast Asia and in Northeast India especially in Manipur. In Manipur, the plant is famous with the local name Sangbrei. It is commonly known as khasia patchouli due to the essential oils present in them which is found to be quite similar with the common patchouli(Pogostemon cablin Benth.).

Geodetically constrained Indian Plate motion and implications for plate boundary deformation

Data from 274 continuous and survey style GPS sites (including 17 sites from within the Indian plate interior) were processed in order to constrain the plate motion of India and elucidate deformation along its plate boundaries. [Show full abstract] sites were integrated from published work to create a comprehensive velocity solution for India and Southeast Asia. The firmly established India plate motion and the published velocities constrain the plate kinematics of Southeast Asia and allow for rigorous testing of multiple microplate configurations and characterization of plate boundary strain. A block modeling approach is used to incorporate both rigid block rotation and near-boundary elastic strain accumulation effects in a formal inversion of the GPS velocities. Our inversions favors an Indian plate rotating with respect to Eurasia located at 29.04±0.7° N 16.74±1.6° E with a counterclockwise angular velocity of 0.42±0.01° Myr-1. Confirming that the NUVEL-1A rate is 20% too fast and the India-Eurasia convergence rates computed along the Himalaya range from 38 mm/yr to 55 mm/yr between 72° and 96° longitude.

The Erpodiaceae (Bryophyta: Isobryales) of India

Three genera, viz., Aulacopilum, Erpodium and Solmsiella are recognized in the moss family Erpodiaceae. Aulacopilum and Erpodium have 2 species each while Solmsiella has only one.
