Analysis of Insurance Nomination Practices in Singapore according to the objectives of Shari'ah in Islamic Law

Many pieccs of research have been done to explain the role of the objectives of SharTah (maqasid al-Shan'ah) in inheritance. Although the literature covers a wide variety of such frameworks, this review will focus on five major themes which emerge repeatedly throughout the literature review. These themes are: maqasid al-Shan'ah, social responsibility in inheritance in Islam, insurance nomination and it's relation to the theory of the maqasid, wealth protection, fair and transparency is an essential component of the Islamic inheritance management. Although the literature represents these themes, this paper will primarily focus on the application of maqasid in insurance nomination practices in Singapore context for the wellbeing of the community and the Ummah, paving the way to achieve the righteous Islamic purpose.

Following an overview of the United Nations history and current operations, a series of interviews with its key individuals is then conducted, with the aim to learning and making credible hypotheses and meaningful analysis. Towards this end, a good representation across the UN agencies is sought to ensure the necessary depth and breadth. The paper then considers what lies in the way ahead and finally concludes with recommendations for the United Nations and relevant key lessons learnt for the Civil Service of Singapore.

Review on Issues and Problems of Transferring Felda Land Ownership

[Show full abstract] (Group Settlement Area) 1960 and other common practice of land ownership are subject to the National Land Code 1965 (NLC). Now, most of the settler had received their land title after completing their payment to the FELDA. However, most of the first generation FELDA is passing away by the day due to old age. This situation has lead to the issue in the process of transferring FELDA land ownership to the next generation. Therefore, the objective of this article is to review the issues in the transfer of FELDA land ownership to the rightful heirs based on the previous studies and identify the mechanism for distribution of inheritance in FELDA land that has been discussed. Data in this article are obtained through observation of literature review based on previous studies. Based on the review of previous studies, it is found that there are three main problems to overcome with regards to this subject namely heir, legal and administration issues. The findings of this article showed that the most of the settlers had chosen to appoint administrators as FELDA land distribution mechanism than giving ownership directly to any of the heirs agreed to. Thus, the future research is needed in order to find a better solution for the problems of transferring FELDA land ownership including the second and third generation. A new model is needed to secure FELDA land ownership and to ensure the interest of second generation FELDA will be secured.

We find: 1) All the index construction, sample characteristic, model selection, control factors will influence the conclusions of medical insurance effectiveness; 2) The implement of basic medical insurance will increase household consumption other than the new rural cooperative systems; 3) The implement of basic health insurance has not really reduce family’s medical expense. Thus, we induce that adverse selection exists in China’s medical insurance.

Based on the expressions obtained, different and similar aspects were evaluated. In research, firstly suicide were described, and then suicide's place in religion were mentioned, and studies related to suicide were given a place. Afterwards, ideas of Bilmen's related to the reasons of suicide were determined. In conclusion Bilmen's ideas and the reasons stated at current studies were discussed by comparing. According to the results of research, it was determined that Bilmen approaches suicide in the sense of Kur'an and Hadith and he approaches suicide according to religious point of view. Besides, it was reached that a view of Bilmen towards the reasons of suicide appears similar to studies towards the reasons of suicide. Futhermore, it was determined an attempt that Bilmen classified the suicide as partial and general. ÖZET Çalışmanın konusu Ömer Nasuhi Bilmen'in eserlerinde intihar olgusunun sebeplerine yönelik ifadeleri tespit etmek ve bu ifadeleri intiharla ilgili çalışmalar bağlamında farklı ve benzer yönleriyle değerlendirmektir. Bilmen'in intihar olgusuna yönelik fikirleri ile konuyla ilgili çalışmalar arasında benzerlik ve farklılıkların neler olduğu da araştırmanın temel problemini oluşturmaktadır. Bu bağlamda Bilmen'in eserleri kaynak tarama yöntemiyle incelenmiş ve intiharla ilgili ifadeler tespit edilmiştir. Elde edilen ifadelerden yola çıkarak güncel çalışmalarla benzer ve farklı yönleri değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmada ilk olarak intiharın tanımı yapılmış, intiharın dindeki yerine değinilmiş, intiharla ilgili çalışmalara yer verilmiştir. Daha sonra Bilmen'in intiharın sebeplerine yönelik fikirleri tespit edilmiştir. Son olarak Bilmen'de ve güncel çalışmalarda belirtilen sebepler karşılaştırılarak tartışılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre Bilmen, intihar olgusuna Kur'an ve Hadis bağlamında yaklaştığı ve dinin intihar olgusuyla ilişkisi içinde ele aldığı tespit edilmiştir. Bunun yanında Bilmen'in intiharın sebeplerine yönelik görüşleri ile intiharın sebepleri üzerine yapılan çalışmalarla benzerlik gösterdiğine ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca Bilmen'in intiharı kısmî ve küllî intihar olarak sınıflandırmaya yönelik bir girişiminin olduğu da tespit edilmiştir.

The authors develop a holistic accountability framework that facilitates defining and implementing accountability in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, by providing a means to operationalize commonly encountered but ambiguous accountability goals through a social process of deliberative dialogue. The authors conclude by summarizing limitations of the approach and describing future research needed.

[Show full abstract] measurement of innovation management appears to be under-taken infrequently as an ad hoc approach, and relies on outdated innovation frameworks due to the accelerated progress of technology and R&D management The consequence of this is the absence of an updated rigorous and generic framework covering the range of all activities required to generate and manage ideas and turn these ideas into useful added values and new marketable products, services, or business model. In this paper we introducing generic but comprehensive framework that addresses the innovation management at both levels of the firms and projects. We first developed a synthesized framework of the innovation management and activities consisting of nine dimensions. Second, introduced the Innovation Balanced Score Card (IBSC) to measure four categories of innovation Key Performance Indicators (KPI). The paper makes two important contributions. First, it takes the difficult step of incorporating a vastly diverse innovation frameworks into a single framework. Second, it provides a innovation KPI against which managers can evaluate their own innovation activity, explore the extent to which their organization is nominally innovative or whether or not innovation is embedded throughout their organization, and identify areas for improvement. Through the application of this framework to a particular context, practi-tioners will be able to conduct an evaluation of their own innovation management activity, identify gaps, weaknesses and also improvement potential.
