The species of the genus Adelius Haliday, 1833 found in the Korean Peninsula are reviewed. A new species Adelius myriolus sp. nov. is described and illustrated. The illustrated redescription of Adelius amplus Belokobylskij, 1998 and a key to four known Korean Adelius species are provided.
... The members of the braconid wasps of the small tribe Adeliini have been considered as a separate subfamily in the Braconidae microgasteroid complex for a long time (Čapek 1970;Tobias 1986;Belokobylskij 1988Belokobylskij , 1998Quicke and van Achterberg 1990;van Achterberg 1993;Whitfield 1997;Shi et al. 2005). However, the following morphological and especially molecular phylogenetic analyses of the Braconidae subfamilies (Whitfield and Mason 1994;Dowton and Austin 1998;Kittel et al. 2016) have shown that this taxonomic group is nested within the subfamily Cheloninae, and subsequently it has been treated only as a chelonine tribe (Chen and van Achterberg 2019; Shimbori et al. 2019;Jasso-Martínez et al. 2022). ...

Heterospilus sicanus (Marshall, 1888) is redescribed and illustrated based on the holotype of Dendrosoter sicanus Marshall, 1888 and on recently collected material from its type locality (Sicily, Italy). Previous host records for this species are unreliable. Here, the host of H. sicanus, the rare ptinid beetle Gastrallus pubens Fairmaire, 1875, is recorded for the first time, having been reared in a historic library in Palermo, Italy. Heterospilus sicanus is compared with the similar species Telebolus (= Heterospilus) corsicus Marshall, 1888, which was described in the same monograph from Corsica (France), and it is also redescribed and illustrated. Atoreuteus ceballosi Docavo Alberti, 1960, syn. nov. is synonymised under Heterospilus sicanus (Marshall, 1888), and Hormiopterus (= Rhaconotus) ollivieri Giraud var. flava Fahringer, 1931, syn. nov. is a junior synonym of Heterospilus cephi Rohwer, 1925. A key for determination of the Western Palaearctic Heterospilus species with a striate vertex is provided and the distributions of H. sicanus and H. corsicus are discussed.

A new fossil subgenus and species of the genus Rhysipolis Foerster, 1863 from the subfamily Rhysipolinae, Rhysipolis (Granulopolis) simutniki Belokobylskij, subgen. et sp. nov., are described and illustrated from late Eocene Baltic amber. The genus Trichelyon Ortega-Blanco & Engel, 2012 is synonymised with Clinocentrus Haliday, 1833 (syn. nov.) and a new combination, Clinocentrus tadkeshwarense (Ortega-Blanco & Engel, 2012), comb. nov., is suggested. The status of the previously described species in the subfamily Rhysipolinae are discussed.

Atanycolus yangi sp. nov. (Hymenoptera, Braconidae), a new species parasitizing the flatheaded wood borer, Lamprodila nobilissima bellula (Lewis) (Coleoptera: Buprestidae), is described. Lamprodila nobilissima bellula is a serious wood boring pest of Rosacea trees in North China. We collected adult specimens of A. yangi sp. nov. searching for hosts on infested tree trunks and confirmed the host-parasitoid association by dissecting parasitized hosts from infested trees in the field and rearing the parasitoid from L. nobilissima bellula-infested host tree logs in the laboratory. Adult images for both sexes of the new parasitoid species are provided. A morphological identification key to Oriental and Palaearctic species similar to A. yangi sp. nov is also presented.

A phylogenetic analysis of the subfamilies of the family Braconidae Nees, 1812 is presented. The analysis employing 96 phylogenetically informative characters was performed using the computerized parsimony programmes PAUP and Hennig86. The cladograms obtained show that the Braconidae can be divided into three major groups of subfamilies. These are a lineage comprising the mainly ectoparasitic cyclostomes and relatives, and two advanced endoparasitic groups, both apparently derived from somewhere near the endoparasitic cyclostome subfamily Rogadinae Foerster, 1862 sensu stricto. As a result of the phylogenetic analysis subfamily rank is given to the Exothecinae Foerster, 1862 (including the Hormiini Foerster, 1862), the Rhyssalinae Foerster, 1862 (including the Pambolini Marshall, 1885), the Charmontinae van Achterberg, 1979, and the Microtypinae Szépligeti, 1908. The tribes Meteorini Cresson, 1887 and Muesebeckiini Mason, 1969 are retained as tribes because this analysis did not provide conclusive arguments to separate these groups from the Euphorinae Foerster, 1862 sensu stricto and the Ichneutinae Foerster, 1862 sensu stricto, respectively. The limits of the subfamily Rogadinae Foerster, 1862 are narrowed to include only endoparasitic taxa.

The venom apparatus was examined in 160 species of female Braconidae. The venom apparatus is illustrated for females of 26 representative genera and those of the remaining females are described. Our findings indicate that there are two types of venom apparatus present in Braconidae. Type 1 is found in females of subfamilies having more ancestral character states: Doryctinae, Spathiinae, Braconinae, Opiinae, Rogadinae, Alysiinae, and Ichneutinae. Typically, type 1 venom apparatus consists of a cone-shaped reservoir which is surrounded by many longitudinal and circular muscles and lined with a relatively thick cuticular intima, gland filaments, and a venom duct. Type 2 is found in females of subfamilies having more derived character states: Cheloninae, Microgasterinae, Agathidinae, Macrocentrinae, Helconinae, Neoneurinae, Centistinae, Paxylommatinae, and Euphorinae. Typically, type 2 consists of a thin-walled reservoir surrounded by relatively few muscles, two gland filaments, and a venom duct. The Aphidiinae is the only subfamily in which the females examined have both types of venom apparatus represented. Of those genera examined, only females of Praon have type 2, while females of the remaining genera have type 1 venom apparatus. Braconid females with type 1 venom apparatus are either ectoparasitoids or endoparasitoids which pupate within the host remains, while those females with type 2 are endoparasitoids which pupate outside the host remains.

Characters previously used to distinguish the braconid wasp subfamily Doryctinae show considerable variation. Here we illustrate three new female external adult characters that will facilitate recognition of doryctines and allow precise definition of the subfamily. The new characters are a distinctively shaped apex to the dorsal ovipositor valve, a modified serration structure of the lower ovipositor valve, and a particularly heavily sclerotized ovipositor apex. As a result of finding additional synapomorphies linking the Ypsistocerinae with the Doryctinae, the former group is reduced in rank to a tribe within the latter.
