The history of agricultural development of the Baraba Lowland (Western Siberia) in the 19th and 20th centuries is described with special reference to persons who contributed to this work. The current state of environmental conditions in this region is described. It is stressed that existing drainage systems do not satisfy the needs of modern agriculture and need to be renewed and properly managed.

So, and despite some worse environmental conditions, whose importance was significant, the change towards a more intensive production path through the agricultural colonization needed to be supported by the Governmental action, which anyway could not assure to the province to keep the privileged position that it had in the middle of the XIX century.

[Show full abstract] anguillicaudatus, Gnathopogon elongatus elongatus, and Carassius spp., left paddy fields 20 to 40 days after the start of the intake of water.(2) Standard lengths of the M. anguillicaudatus fries was about 30mm, and standard lengths of the G. elongatus elongatus fries was about 20mm.(3) The G. elongatus elongatus fries and Carassius spp. fries leave more quickly than the M. anguillicaudatus fries at the onset of water drainage.(4) Research shows that we must carefully manage the levels of water within 20 days of the initial intake of water from the irrigation ditches. For the pesticide application, 40 days is recommended.
