Abstract
In the present environmental scenario light weight, biodegradable and renewable composite
materials are very much desirable for replacing existing materials resulting in enormous
plastic waste which is non-biodegradable in nature. The increasing environmental and
social concerns, growing rate of depleting petroleum resources and new environmental
guidelines have encouraged researchers to develop new composites and green materials,
sustainable with the environment. If these mechanical and thermal properties are
comparable with those of the nonbiodegradable polymers, they could be a good substitute.
Thus the main aim of this review is to present commonly used biodegradable matrices, and
methods to improve the properties.
Keywords: Biodegradable polymer matrices, Natural Fiber, Green Composite, Mechanical
Properties.
