Applied Statistics
Abstract
The Applied Statistics Desktop Reference Guide provides an overview of hypothesis
testing and the interpretation of output generated by statistical software. The Guide
will be most useful for those who have completed a course in statistics and need a
quick refresher or for students who would like to have a reference to support course
instruction. It is not intended to serve as a stand-alone statistical text.
The approach of the Guide is to connect classically taught statistics with statistical
software output. The Guide presents commonly used hypothesis tests and formulas,
provides an example of how to do the calculations, and relates the hypothesis test to
output generated by statistical software.
For many, the most valuable portions of the Guide will be the Glossary and the annotated
