Initiating an estate agency information systems strategy: a case study

Abstract

Our paper is concerned with Information System Strategies; in particular the strategy proposed by Tozer [Toz86]. The author was fortunate in gaining practical experience with a company interested in implementing an IS strategy modelled along Tozer lines; We preset a sample of the data as case study. Estate Agency seems slow in utilizing IS at the front-end of their business; to the authors knowledge this is the first case study of Estate Agency IS strategy being published; certainly so using Tozer. The experience shows that the strategy is both efficient and efficacious within Estate Agency and further use is recommended. This appropriateness we found particularly true in the early stages of the method which, by encouraging discipline, led to some surprising, given the low expectation we had of the exercise, results.
