In order to obtain a uniform taxonomy within the slipper orchids, the major groups are taxonomically elevated to subgenera as has been done in the genus Paphiopedilum since the end of the 19th century. Furthermore, within the group of plants hitherto referred to as “section Lorifolia”, now subgenus Longifolium, it is obvious that there are two very distinct complexes deserving to be separated as autonomous entities at the sectional level.
Treatment of Phragmipedium kovachii and description of a new section within the genus Phragmipedium
