Short Communication
Introduction
Aphid species have very close relationship with their
host plants and climatic conditions have a strong ef-
fect on the distribution of aphids worldwide. Turkey
has diverse types of climatic conditions, very large
agricultural land and rich ora consisting of 12000
plant species. Therefore, it can be expected that ter-
ritory of Turkey is characterised by the presence of
many aphid species. Studies related to the Turkish
aphid fauna dated back to the begining of the 1900s.
Ca n a k C i o g l u (1975) revised all previous studies and
listed 258 aphid species. Since the 1980s, the stud-
ies of the Turkish aphid fauna have been intensied.
Du z g u n e s et al. (1982) added 3 new species and
Tu a T a y (1991, 1993) added 30 species from vari-
ous parts of Turkey to the list. Recently, the aphid
researchers added many new records to the Turkish
aphid fauna and the number of species in Turkey
increased to about 500 species (Wi o C z e r e k 2009,
ka y g i n To p e r et al. 2009, yi l D i z & To p e r ka y g i n
2010, ak y u r e k et al. 2011, go r u r et al. 2012). The
aim of the present article is to provide additional data
on the species diversity of aphids in Turkey.
Material and Methods
Samples were collected from Inner West Anatolian
Region (Kütahya, Afyon, Uşak), Inner Anatolian
Region (Nigde) and Middle Black Sea Region
(Tokat). The samples were processed in the labora-
tory based on the methods offered by Ma r T i n (1983).
Species were identied according to http:// www.
aphidsonworldsplants.info, Bl a C k M a n & ea s T o p
(2006), Qu e D n a u (1999, 2003). The taxonomic
status of the species was checked at www.faunae-
ur. org/taxon_tree.php,http://Aphid.SpeciesFile.
org. Voucher samples were stored at the Biology
Department of Nigde University.
The geographic distribution of the species is
presented after Ho l M a n (2009), http://www. aphid-
sonworldsplants. info) and Qu e D n a u (2003).
Results
As a result of the identication of the samples col-
lected from various regions of Turkey, eight aphid
species belonging to the family Aphididae and one
species belonging to the family Adelgidae have been

some parts of Asia.
Discussion
The present study added 9 new records to the aphid
fauna of Turkey. With these new additions, the
Turkish aphid fauna now consists of more than 500
species. Despite the rich ora (31% of endemic
plants for the Turkish ora), various climatic condi-
tions, indigenous geographic characteristics and the
considerable number of agricultural plants in Turkey,
studies of the Turkish aphid fauna are limited. It is
expected that further studies will reveal additional
aphid species new to the Turkish fauna.

This comprehensive checklist of aphids presents a total of 591 species, including 26 subspecies, from 147 genera belonging to 15 subfamilies in three families distributed over three superfamilies of Aphidomorpha recorded from 1903 to 2020 in Turkey. In the current list, the systematic positions with the genus and species names of some taxa have been revised, and some species have been downgraded to subspecies in accordance with recent changes in nomenclature. Seven species have been removed from the Turkish fauna and four species that were not included in the previous checklist have been added to the list. Also, 59 of the listed species (about 10% of Aphidomorpha) are evaluated as alien to the Turkish fauna, and the distribution of all species in Turkey is given.
... Aphids are an important phloem sap-sucking insect group due to their small size, high fecundity, short development time, cyclical parthenogenetic reproduction, diverse host-plant preferences and close relationship with their host plants. There are about 5100 described aphid species worldwide in about 510 presently accepted genera (Blackman & Eastop, 2018;Favret, 2018) and about 540 species are recorded from Turkey (Şenol et al., 2014;Özdemir & Barjadze, 2015;Şenol et al., 2017;Görür et al., 2017). Turkey is a geographically large country and has different types of climatic conditions, large and various agricultural lands and very rich flora which 31% of this is endemic. ...

This study aims to show results of a prospective study on the relationship and the variation between the number of aphid species and the number of alien aphid species in Türkiye, the taxonomic diversity of alien aphids, their distribution in Türkiye and the regions of origin of alien aphids. The study showed the presence of 57 alien aphid species belonging to 32 genera from the Aphidomorpha infraorder (Hemiptera) recorded in Türkiye between 1903 and 2021. It was shown that the alien aphid constitute about 10% of the aphid fauna of Türkiye including 592 species belonging to 148 genera. Based on 119 years of data, the average introduction rate of alien aphids into the aphid fauna of Türkiye was calculated as 0.48 species per year. It was shown that the alien aphids are found in 60 to 81 different provinces in Türkiye. We conclude that more local and territorial studies should be carried out in order to evaluate details of the current status and distribution of alien aphids in Türkiye.

Aphids are important insects in agronomy, due to their sap-sucking habits in cultivable plants. Their damages may generate economic losses and become lethal to plants, due to diseases produced by the viruses that several aphids transmit. Despite their importance, taxonomic inventories in the country are still incipient. Also, species studied in previous works are not represented by specimens in collections, which makes it difficult to achieve taxonomic corroborations. In the present work, we enrich the knowledge of aphid species for the country, as well as generate new records of species for northern South America. Most samples proceeded directly from field collecting and a few others from several institutional collections in the country, 1 400 specimens were studied and incorporated into the Museo entomológico Universidad Nacional Agronomía Bogotá (UNAB). We offered a taxonomic key for 42 species, diagnosis and illustrations for 27 species, and a list of 51 botanical host species. Eulachnus rileyi, Greenidea psidii, Wahlgreniella nervata, Neomyzus circumflexum, Myzus ascalonicus, Illinoia morrisoni, and Ovatus crataegarius are recorded for the first time for the country.

Bayram: Analysis of host preference and relationship of aphid species and their parasitoids in wheat fields and surrounding areas, in Diyarbakir and Şanliurfa provinces, Turkey-6927-APPLIED ECOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH 18(5):6927-6939. Abstract. This study was carried out to investigate the relationship and host preference of aphids and their parasitoids on different host plants in Diyarbakır and Şanlıurfa provinces in 2014-2015. In this study, 24 aphid species belonging to 18 genera, 10 parasitoid species belonging to 6 genera and 20 plant species belonging to 8 families were evaluated. Biodiversity Pro V7 package program was used for diversity cluster analysis and to determine similarity between host plant species, aphids and their parasitoids. Lysiphlebus fabarum (Marshall) and Praon volucre (Haliday) were observed as the most active parasitoids, with preference of five different aphid species, while the remaining aphid species were parasitized by the other parasitoid species. However, Aphelinus paramali (Zehavi & Rosen) was found to be specifically parasitizing only one aphid species. The highly parasitism percentage of 10 parasitoid species over 24 different aphid species and their complex relationship in wheat fields and surrounding areas, provided a wonderful natural balanced of biodiversity and possibility to control of aphids in Southeast Anatolia Region. The results of this study will provide useful knowledge in order to introduce biological control possibilities under the framework of integrated pest management.

This study provides a comprehensive list of Turkey aphid fauna (Hemiptera: Aphididea). A total of 466 species and 12 subspecies belonging to 141 genera and 13 tribes, are listed. The list includes all records from 1903 to 2011. The family of Aphididae comprise the highest number of species (457), followed by Adelgidae (6) and Phylloxeridae (3), re-spectively. Inside Aphididae, the tribe of Macrosiphini is the richest group with 197 species, whereas the tribe of Cinarini has only one species. The number of aphid species actually reported for Turkey is lower than recorded for neighboring countries, suggesting that further faunistic studies needs to improve informations on this topic.
