... According to Karasek [3], BOS is a consequence of everyday stress reactions that have worn the individual down. It has its roots in response to a number of long-lasting occupational stressors that exhaust people to the point where their energy resources are insufficient to survive the pressure of the situation [4][5][6][7]. Occupational stress is www.intmarhealth.pl a physical and psychological condition resulting from the accumulation of stressors that impact on individuals on a daily basis [2][3][4][5][6]8]. ... We used an individual questionnaire inspired by those of the Institut National de Recherche et de Sécurité de France [14], the Karasek Job Content Questionnaire (KJCQ) [3], and the Maslach BO Inventory (MBI) [4,15]. It consists of four parts: -Socio-demographic and occupational parameters: age, family situation, job seniority, daily and weekly working hours, type of employment (permanent or seasonal), history of incidents or accidents in the last 12 months, and work-related stress factors; -Health parameters: regular physical activity -sports (at least 3 times a week), consumption of psychoactive substances, psychosomatic manifestations of stress and reported chronic diseases. ...

Background: Coastal fishermen are particularly affected by occupational stress and burnout because they are exposed to high psychosocial factors at work and organizational constraints related to difficult working conditions. Materials and methods: This survey aimed to assess the prevalence of burnout syndrome (BOS) of fishermen and its relationship with sociodemographic and occupational parameters. This cross-sectional study involved a representative sample of 761 fishermen. We used an individual questionnaire including socio-demographic and occupational parameters, the Karasek's Job Content Questionnaire, and Maslach BO Inventory. BOS includes three dimensions: emotional exhaustion, depersonalisation, and loss of self-efficacy. The positive diagnosis of BOS is retained if the scores of the three dimensions are abnormal (high for the first two and low for the third). Results: Five hundred and twenty-six people agreed to answer the questionnaire. Of these, 16.1% had a high emotional exhaustion, 13.9% high depersonalisation, and 11.2% low personal accomplishment. Furthermore, 37.1% had at least one abnormal dimension of BOS: 16.9% had one abnormal dimension, 12.2% two, and 8% three (BOS). The prevalence of abnormal dimensions of BOS was significantly higher in pilots-copilots (67.9%), and in mechanics (63.5%) than in sailors (27.8%). It was higher in fishermen living alone (44.4%), having seasonal job (57.9%), suffering of job strain (42.1%) or isostrain (57.9%), and sleep disorders (55.4%). The multivariate logistic regression showed that job strain, isostrain, fatigue, sleep disorders , seasonal job and daily working > 14 h constituted a major risk factor of abnormal dimension of BOS. Conclusions: It is imperative to identify priority actions to improve the working conditions of fishermen, and to develop a genuine prevention policy.

Food delivery riders face significant road safety risks globally. Previous studies have primarily focused on the direct relationship between job demands, job resources, and road safety behaviors, often neglecting the potential indirect paths through dual processes, namely the health impairment process and the motivational process, which may lead to dangerous riding behaviors. Additionally, the impact of organizational citizenship behaviors on the safety of food delivery riders within the industry remains unexplored. This study aims to address these gaps by applying the dual processes of the Job Demands-Resources model (JD-R) to identify factors influencing the safety behaviors of food delivery riders in Vietnam. Data were collected through face-to-face surveys with 410 riders in public places. The findings show a nuanced interplay between job demands, resources, and safety behaviors. Specifically, job burnout acts as a bridge, mediating the influence of job demands on in-role safety behaviors. On the other hand, job resources-encompassing facets like job autonomy, performance feedback, technology support, and work support-indirectly shape both in-role and extra-role safety behaviors via the conduit of motivation. These resources not only bolster motivation but also serve as pillars in fostering a culture of safety among riders. This research not only deepens our understanding of the determinants of food delivery riders' safety behaviors but also highlights the pivotal role food delivery companies play in shaping these behaviors. By prioritizing the holistic well-being of their riders and offering robust support, these companies can foster an environment conducive to safety. Additionally, by integrating additional dimensions of job demands and resources into the JD-R model, this study paves the way for more comprehensive and nuanced future research in this domain.

Symptoms severe enough to constitute a secondary traumatization (ST) can arise from providing eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) treatment. However, little is known about specific risk factors such as a personal trauma history. EMDR therapists ( n = 115) filled out a questionnaire battery to test whether the personal trauma history predicts symptom levels over and beyond vicarious exposure and whether vicarious exposure mediates the relationship between primary trauma history and current ST severity. Current exposure predicts ST symptom severity, while lifetime exposure is negatively associated. The number of primary traumata and the total severity of primary traumata do not explain additional variance in ST symptom severity. The mediation model suggests that primary trauma exposure instead is associated with treating more traumatized clients. The current results suggest that ST is a relevant topic to address in EMDR training, but the personal trauma history does not seem to constitute a relevant risk factor per se. It might, however, be associated with preferences for clientele composition, which in turn might act as a risk factor.

Nowadays, the role of psychosocial work-related factors is increasing both in the production and nonproduction areas, which are predisposing to the development of psycho-emotional overstrain, professional stress and burnout. Emotional burnout is associated with psychological discomfort of events, tension, anxiety, loss of life meaning and a tendency to suicide. It manifests itself in the deformation of professional development, personality destruction, in a decrease in the duration and quality of life and the productivity of professional activity. As it is known, professional ctivity, including the professional environment, affects the state and emotions of the worker, causing a change in the assessment of the situation and in the actions of a person in accordance with the requirements of the activity and their capabilities. Socio-economic changes, taking place in society, cause new requirements for specialists in almost all professions, including teachers. Teachers should possess not only professional knowledge, skills, and abilities, moreover they should have special abilities and personality characteristics that provide flexibility and dynamism of professional behavior. High levels of neuropsychic and emotional stress are related to teachers' occupations, and as a result, health problems develop. The issue of teachers developing emotional burnout syndrome is addressed in this article. Teachers who are gradually losing energy show signs of emotional debilitation, personal dispassion, physical fatigue, and a decrease of job satisfaction. The paper also presents a theoretical and practical research of emotional burnout syndrome among teachers, the peculiarities of the presentation and factors of emotional burnout are indicated.
