... Clitopilus is a small genus estimated to contain about 30 species worldwide and most of the known species are from the north temperate regions (Kirk et al. 2008). Monographic treatments of the genus are not available and only sporadic reports describing new species or new records are available (Pegler 1977a(Pegler , b, 1986Redhead & Baroni 1986;Noordeloos 1988Noordeloos , 1993Baroni & Watling 1999;Hausknecht & Noordeloos 1999;Baroni & Halling 2000;Baroni et al. 2001;Noordeloos et al. 2010;Deng et al. 2013;Cooper 2014;Morgado et al. 2016;Wang et al. 2017). Clitopilus species are saprotrophic and are inhabitants of either soil or wood or other organic matter. ...

Three species of Clitopilus, C. albidus sp. nov., C. subscyphoides and C. orientalis, are described from Kerala State, India, based on morphology and molecular phylogeny. Comprehensive descriptions, photographs, and comparisons with phenetically similar and phylogenetically related species are provided. The RNA polymerase II genes (rpb2) of the three species were sequenced and analyzed. In addition, the nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer regions (ITS) and the nuclear ribosomal large subunit (nLSU) genes were sequenced and used in BLAST searches to find similar sequences. Phylogenetic analyses based on rpb2 sequences performed using both Maximum Likelihood (ML) and Bayesian Analysis (BA) methods supported the novelty of C. albidus and its placement within the genus Clitopilus. C. subscyphoides and C. orientalis are the first and second record respectively of these species from India.

The fungi found in the warmhouses of the Botanical Garden in Jena during 17 excursions in the years 2003 and 2004 are listed and some are described in detail. In this period approx. 30 species could be identified, of which Hydropus fluvialis and Mycena neospeirea are reported for the first time in Europe, Lactocollybia cycadicola is new to Germany. Some other adventive species have not been identified up to now, among them an evidently undescribed Rhodocybe species.

Five new species of Rhodocybe Maire (R. conchata, R. iti, R. maleolens, R. dingleyi, R. ,fuliginea) are reported from New Zealand. Rhodocybe antipoda (Stevenson) Horak comb. nov. (= Lepista antipoda Stevenson) is proposed. Rhodocybe albovelutina (Stevenson) Horak. R. muritai (Stevenson) Horak, and R. piperita (Stevenson) Horak are redescribed. A key to Rhodocybe in New Zealand is presented.

Abstract The phylogeny of the Entolomataceae was reconstructed using three loci (RPB2, LSU and mtSSU) and, in conjunction with spore morphology (using SEM and TEM), was used to address four main systematic issues: 1) the monophyly of the Entolomataceae; 2) inter-generic relationships within the Entolomataceae; 3) genus delimitation of Entolomataceae; and 4) spore evolution in the Entolomataceae. Results confirm that the Entolomataceae (Ento loma, Rhodocybe, Clitopilus, Richoniella and Rhodogaster) is monophyletic and that the combination of pinkish spore prints and spores having bumps and/or ridges formed by an epicorium is a synapomorphy for the family. The Entolomataceae is made up of two sister clades: one with Clitopilus nested within Rhodocybe and another with Richoniella and Rhodogaster nested within Entoloma. Entoloma is best retained as one genus. The smaller genera within Entoloma s.l. are either polyphyletic or make other genera paraphyletic. Spores of the clitopiloid type are derived from rhodocyboid spores. The ancestral spore type of the Entolomataceae was either rhodocyboid or entolomatoid. Taxonomic and nomenclatural changes are made including merging Rhodocybe into Clitopilus and transferring relevant species into Clitopilus and Entoloma.

Two new species are described in Rhodocybe, R. rhizogena and R. brunnescens. Two new transfers into Rhodocybe, R. stipitata and R. verrucosa, from Claudopus and Rhodophyllus, respectively, are also proposed. New morphological information is added to the description of R. stipitata. Rhodocybe alutacea is discussed, illustrated and now reported for North Carolina. Several other taxa of Rhodocybe are also discussed.
Article
A new species of Entolomataceae, Rhodocybe paurii, is described from Garhwal in the western Indian Himalaya. This species grows on wood in dense clusters and belongs to section Claudopodes Singer ex Baroni because of its pleurotoid habit and lack of hymenial pseudocystidia. It is distinguished from the other pleurotoid species in that section by its layered caespitose habit, a brown spore deposit and a tomentose pileus surface composed of a well-developed layer of hyaline, erect, filamentous hyphae. Phylogenetic analysis using nucleotide sequence data from the nuclear large ribosomal subunit gene indicates a close relationship between R. paurii and the type species of the genus, Rhodocybe caelata. This analysis also suggests a possible paraphyly of the genus Rhodocybe and supports monophyly of Entoloma sensu lato.

Revised, illustrated descriptions are provided for the species of Entolomataceae known to occur in India or Sri Lanka. A full synonymy is included and keys are provided to all taxa. Nolanea maderaspatana is described as new, and the following combinations are proposed: Alboleptonia stylophora, Leptonia elaphines, L. incongrua, L. iodnephes, Nolanea brunnea, N. cystopus, N. mazophora, Pluteus argilophyllus, Pouzaromyces lasius, P. myodermus, Rhodocybe retroflexa and R. subgilva.
