Penelitian tentang pemetaan kesadaran mahasiswa perguruan tinggi keagaman dengan non keagamaan terhadap penyebaran paham ekstrimisme melalui media literasi online yang dikaji melalui studi komparatif dengan melibatkan mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkomparasikan kesadaran mahasiswa pada perguruan tinggi berbasis keagamaan dan non-keagamaan terhadap penyebaran radikalisme melalui media literasi online, dan literasi media online mahasiswa terhadap penyebaran radikalisme. Metodologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kuantitatif. Jenis survei yang digunakan adalah survei cross sectional. Survei ini dilakukan di 10 perguruan tinggi di pulau Lombok. Hasil Penelitian: Pertama, media online mengambil porsi dan peran yang sangat besar dalam memberikan informasi kepada masyarakat dalam hal ini mahasiswa, diketahui semua mahasiswa baik yang memiliki latar belakang keagamaan mapun non-keagamaan memiliki akun media sosial, dan umumnya menggunakan 3 (tiga) akun media sosial, dimana WhatsApp merupakan media sosial yang paling banyak digunakan, kemudian Instagram, facebook; Kedua, media online berperan penting dalam menangkal dan memberikan informasi kepada masyarakat tentang isu radikalisme sehingga masyarakat dapat mengambil langkah untuk mencegah berkembangnya gerakan ekstremis yang mengangkat tiga isu yang selalu disebarkan oleh kelompok radikal, yaitu intoleransi, anti- Pancasila, dan anti NKRI; Ketiga, literasi online merupakan solusi dan strategi dalam membentuk otonomi kritis yang diperlukan untuk berinteraksi dengan media secara sehat dan bertanggung jawab, mengurangi dampak negatif media dan memaksimalkan dampak positif.

Medyanın öncelikli görevlerinden en önemlisi kamuoyuna doğru, tarafsız ve dengeli haber vermesidir. Bu nokta tüm dünyada haberciliğin etik kuralları arasında yer alan ve üzerinde uzlaşı sağlanan vazgeçilmez bir habercilik pratiğidir. Bu kuralı ihlal eden herhangi bir gazeteci veya medya organizasyonu hem kendi mesleki etik kurallarını çiğnemiş sayılırken hem de varlık sebebi olan kamuoyunun doğru ve güvenilir haber alma özgürlüğünü engellemiş olur. Bu husus konvansiyonel medyada zaman zaman karşılaşılan bir durum olsa da dijital medyanın devreye girmesi ile daha çok görünür olmaya başlanmıştır. Özellikle sosyal ağlardaki kontrolsüz ve disipline edilmemiş haber içerikleri, bir yandan yalan haber ekseninde toplumsal kaos oluşturması bakımından sosyal çatışmalara zemin hazırlarken diğer yandan ise bu olumsuz tavırlardan dolayı medyaya güven oranını azaltmaktadır. Bu çalışmada medya dezenformasyonuna karşı internet tabanlı yayın yapan ve bu tür çarpıtılmış haberleri deşifre ederek kamuoyuna ve bireylere medya okuryazarlığı kapsamında bir farkındalık oluşturmayı amaç edinmiş olan www.teyit.org sitesi incelenerek bu tür haberlerin izi sürülmüştür. Metodolojik açıdan çalışma, nitel araştıma yöntemi ekseninde içerik analizi ve göstergebilimin verileri üzerinden şekillendirilmiştir.

Recently, talk of “fake news” – and its relation to wider epistemic crises, from climate denialism to the creep of global ethnonationalism – has renewed attention to media literacy in education. For some, revived discussions of media literacy offer protection (e.g., strategies for identifying and critiquing media bias and misinformation). For others, they offer empowerment (e.g. equipping youth to produce media messages that challenge misinformation or represent marginalized perspectives). In this article, we consider how such approaches, while often generative, retain a focus of media pedagogy that centers the actions of individual humans – namely, “literacies”, or practices associated with the interpretation or creation of media texts.

In an era of unprecedented information proliferation, post-truth dynamics, democratic principles, and critical media literacy are central for philosophical exploration. The rapid dissemination of information brings both opportunities and challenges to global democracies. The digital age has fundamentally altered how information is spread, intensifying competition for attention and accelerating information generation. Post-truth's influence, where emotions often overshadow facts in shaping public opinion, raises concerns about the very foundation of democracy. In this dilemma, mass media and journalism, crucial in shaping public opinion, sometimes prioritize attention-grabbing narratives over objective truth. Democracy, facing challenges in the age of limitless information, requires imparting critical media literacy skills to the populace. Media literacy involves not just technological understanding but also the ability to assess sources, understand context, and analyze motives.

In this article, the New London Group presents a theoretical overview of the connections between the changing social environment facing students and teachers and a new approach to literacy pedagogy that they call "multiliteracies." The authors argue that the multiplicity of communications channels and increasing cultural and linguistic diversity in the world today call for a much broader view of literacy than portrayed by traditional language-based approaches. Multiliteracies, according to the authors, overcomes the limitations of traditional approaches by emphasizing how negotiating the multiple linguistic and cultural differences in our society is central to the pragmatics of the working, civic, and private lives of students. The authors maintain that the use of multiliteracies approaches to pedagogy will enable students to achieve the authors' twin goals for literacy learning: creating access to the evolving language of work, power, and community, and fostering the critical engagement necessary for them to design their social futures and achieve success through fulfilling employment.

Discussion of media education focuses on a study conducted in Western Australian schools that assessed the level of understanding of the media among 15 year olds who had studied a formal media education syllabus. The purpose of the National Leadership Conference on Media Literacy was to shape a national framework for media literacy so that each participating group could demonstrate its own niche and role in achieving common objectives. This report details the approaches and conclusions of the 25 representative leaders of the media literacy movement who met to agree on a definition, vision, and framework for media literacy efforts in the United States. The basic definition spelled out media literacy as the ability of a citizen to access, analyze, and produce information for specific outcomes. In the 2 days of discourse, conference participants saw common ground on a number of issues and endorsed a project in New Mexico as a test site where various groups might work to foster media literacy in the schools and beyond. Task forces were established to look at issues associated with curriculum and teacher training, foster communications among the groups interested in media literacy, and begin to write a prospectus for a Media Literacy Institute. The Institute will bring together the resources for intellectual underpinning, teacher training, and active participation in policy making and events. Appendixes contain: (1) a background paper by J. Francis Davis, "Media Literacy--From Activism to Exploration"; (2) a list of conference participants and organizations; and (3) the Aspen Institute's Communications and Society Program Statement.
