Sotto le Torricelle ci sono diversi Km di gallerie. Sono le grotte/miniere dove si estraeva la cosiddetta “terra gialla”. La “terra gialla” (ocra) veniva estratta per essere utilizzata come pigmento per l'arte e l'edilizia. Nuove esplorazioni nelle grotte/miniere hanno portato a interessanti scoperte geologiche.
