Reaction–diffusion problems are found in several fields, such as fluid dynamics, heat transfer and electromagnetism. An accurate and efficient numerical method to obtain a solution to this class of problems is still a thriving topic of research. In this article, a new promising numerical strategy to solve this type of problems is proposed. The main...

In this work, new formulations for the hybrid meshless‐method of moments technique are presented. The proposed approaches are applied for solving 2D electromagnetic scattering problems. The solution is obtained by dividing the problem into 2 subproblems: one internal to the scatterer and another external to it. For the internal subproblem, the mesh...

This work applies the linear optimization theory to the minimum cost flow problem of voice traffic management in a real mobile telecommunication network. A voice traffic assignment method between core network elements is proposed to achieve the optimum trade-off between cost and transmission capacity in graph routes. In this sense, the Simplex Meth...

In this paper, the interpolation functions behavior of the natural element method (NEM) and the finite element method (FEM) are compared. It is discussed how the unknown in both methods affects the stiffness matrix and contributes to NEM better accuracy. The visibility criterion and the constrained NEM are also addressed, and a pseudoalgorithm is p...
Conference Paper
In this paper, the Constrained Natural Element Method (C-NEM) is used to determine the magnetic flux distribution in an electrical machine. Due the use of anti-periodic boundary conditions, only % of machine is modeled. The obtained results are compared with the traditional Finite Element Method (FEM) with good agreement.

The Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology is promising for data communications over short distances at high data rates. Since the antenna design is critical in the development of UWB systems, this paper proposes a new geometry for a microstrip UWB antenna. The modifications suggested are difficult to analyze because the proposed antenna is constructed us...
Article
In this paper the treatment of material discontinuities in the Natural Element Method (NEM) are discussed. A visibility criterion and the constrained Voronoï diagram are presented in order to take account this difficulty. The extension of NEM, the Constrained NEM (C-NEM), is applied to solve electromagnetic problems. An electrostatic problem is pro...

In this paper the treatment of material discontinuities in the Natural Element Method (NEM) are discussed. A visibility criterion and constrained Voronoi diagram are introduced in order to take account this difficult. The extension of NEM, the so-called C-NEM, is applied to solve electromagnetic problems. An electromagnetic problem is proposed and...

This work presents a study about behavior of the response of Element Free Galerkin method due to Interpolating Moving Least Square using 2D linear, quadratic and cubic polynomial bases. For this purpose, the 2D electromagnetic scattering problem generated by an infinite dielectric cylinder illuminated by a TMz plane wave is used. A parametric analy...

The element free Galerkin (EFG) meshless method is very effective for solving electrostatic problems. However, it leads to shape functions which do not satisfy the Kronecher delta property. Therefore, it is necessary to use additional techniques to impose the essential boundary conditions (EBCs) and to treat the material discontinuities. In this wo...

In this paper, the element-free Galerkin method with special interpolating shape functions is used to solve an electromagnetic scattering problem. These shape functions make use of the interpolating moving least-squares method that guarantees the Kronecker delta property. This allows enforcing the absorbing boundary condition directly in the discre...

The purpose of this paper is to introduce periodic and anti-periodic boundary conditions in the Natural Element Method (NEM). It is shown that as the NEM shape functions verify the Kronecker delta property, the imposition of such boundary conditions can be done in an easy way as in the Finite Element Method (FEM). These boundaries conditions are im...

Meshless Methods, also called Meshfree Methods, are a class of numerical methods to solve partial differential equations. The main characteristic of these methods is that they do not need a mesh like the one used in the Finite Element Method. In this sense mesh-less methods are very useful for modeling moving structures, such as electric machines,...

Summary form of only given: This work presents a method which enables coupling between equations of electric circuits and a magnetic field for a time domain model making use of a meshless method. A three-phase induction machine is used as example and its field-circuit transient coupling equations are presented. With the Element-Free Galerkin Method...

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to introduce a new methodology to implement periodic and anti‐periodic boundary conditions in the element free Galerkin method (EFGM). Design/methodology/approach – This paper makes use of the interpolating moving least squares (IMLS) in the EFGM to implement periodic and anti‐periodic boundary conditions. Th...

One of the main difficulties with meshless methods applied to electromagnetic problems is the treatment of material discontinuities. To deal with them, the present work makes use of the Interpolating Moving Least Squares (IMLS) in the Element Free Galerkin Method (EFGM), instead of the frequently used Moving Least Squares (MLS) approximation. The p...

This paper discusses the convenience of the application of object-oriented software engineering (OOSE) concepts and techniques in the development of software for engineering in order to increase the reliability and performance, enhance the reusability and scalability, and reduce the cost of production and maintenance. It is restricted to the softwa...

A lightning return stroke channel is modeled by a high loss transmission line. The differential equations that represent its dynamic behavior are solved by the application of the one-dimensional finite element method (FEM). By the combination of FEM results with the use of Maxwell equations applied to the dipole method, electric and magnetic (EM) f...
