Conference Paper
In industrial applications continuous wireless connectivity of mo- bile clients can rarely by guaranteed. Lack of communication nega- tively impacts the performance of industrial automation systems, e.g. Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) fleets. Utilizing industrial Mobile Ad-hoc NETworks (MANETs) and adaptive positioning sys- tems can reduce the numb...

Wireless communication is becoming vital in the industrial environment. New communication technologies, including ad hoc communication, are researched for this application. A thorough understanding regarding the connection characteristics of industrial networks could benefit this trend. In this work it was possible to record the time-variant networ...
Conference Paper
The control of mobile robots in industrial applications is mostly shared between local control by the robot and remote control by a central control system. The rising autonomy of robots in industrial settings affect the type of messages communicated between the central control system and the mobile robot. Single messages become bigger in size, but...

Conference Paper
Wireless communication continuously gains in importance in the context of industrial automation due to its role as an enabling factor for flexibility. The number of mobile, wirelessly communicating devices in modern production facilities steadily rises. Knowledge about the signal propagation is central to the planning and maintenance of these wirel...
Conference Paper
Industry 4.0 envisions flexibility and mobility to be highly important for the factory of the future. Mobile wireless networks are important tools, that enable flexibility and mobility. A better understanding of the mobility of industrial nodes is necessary for the design and implementation of effective mobile wireless networking solutions. In this...
Conference Paper
Bandwidth is a scarce resource in industrial wireless networks. At the same time keep-alive-messages are excessively used in these networks to test channel characteristics. This work proposes an approach to reduce bandwidth usage in critical industrial applications, by exploiting channel quality data from 5G. Thereby, the information about the chan...
Conference Paper
Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) become increasingly important for modern industrial facilities. Communication and cooperation are central parts to their role in the flexible factory of the future. Cooperating AGVs require ultra Reliable and Low Latency Communication (uRLLC), while adhering to the strict bandwidth limitation existing in modern fact...
Conference Paper
More and more mobile robots are used within modern production facilities. The interconnection of these robots and their connection to other systems is a major focus, when looking at trends like Industry 4.0. However industrial environments are very challenging for any communications network, that utilizes wireless transmissions. High mobility, chan...
Data
Set of data and tools for processing and recording of Nodal Encounter Patterns (NEPs). The provided set was recorded in a running procudtion facility. It is described and analyzed in the journal article "On Ad Hoc Communication in Industrial Environments". Source: https://github.com/ChrSau/IndustrialAdHoc
Conference Paper
Wireless communication continuously gains importance in the industrial environment. Mobile communication, for example between Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), is a particularly challenging use case. The AGVs move in the industrial environment and require a connection to a central controller by means of wireless communication technologies. Most AGV...
Conference Paper
Most network simulation tools focus on the observation of different network technologies (interfaces, routing algorithms) being implemented in the same theoretical scenario for direct comparisons. The exact replication of environments or applications is not a priority. The simulation tool shown in this work focuses on exactly this: the performance...
Conference Paper
Tomorrow’s production facilities will be more flexible and efficient by incorporating new technologies, like massive wireless sensor networks, intelligent logistics solutions, humanmachine- cooperation and a tight-knit communication connecting all of these systems. The rise of mobile machines and the required ability for reconfiguration of static p...
Conference Paper
The monitoring and online analysis of computer networks is a wide field of research, covering many applications from constant load determination of high-performance wired networks to connection-oriented measurements in different QoS applications. QoS-enabled routing in mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) is the most common application for network monit...

Indoor navigation is an important capability of any mobile robots. An incremental part of indoor navigation is position determination. Most common sensors in mobile robotics lack the possibility to determine the absolute pose with a high accuracy. Thus, it is for example not possible to determine the orientation properly. This work demonstrates the...

Questions

Question (1)
Question
Measurements and analysis have generated a data set, which I want to share with the research community.
The data is a three-dimensional array of numeric values.
Some possible ideas are:
.mat-file (Matlab/octave)
.xml/.json-file (many parsers (python, …))
custom .csv with three delimiters
Are there any guidelines for the documentation and manuals for the files?
