Evaluation of the Lepidopterological Bibliography based upon the Info-system of the Cesa.

Abstract

In this bibliographical study, totally 8234 publications of the Lepidoptera are listed as author index. The items are related with the results of the Cesa projects, previously published in various Cesa serials. They are interested mainly in 12 asian and african countries or region, i.e., Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Thailand, Philippines , Russia, Caucasus, Ethiopia, and South Africa. Bibliographical lists of selected 12 major families are also added. These are as follows; Hesperiidae, Papilionidae, Pieridae, Satyridae, Lycaenidae, Pyralidae, Geometridae, Lymantriidae, Lasiocampidae, Noctuidae, Aganaidae, and Arctiidae.

A synonymous and distributional list of the Lepidoptera of Iraq based on the info-systems of the Cesa. Priamus 17 (2): 114-208, 4 Tables. Totally, 1236 species of the Lepidoptera in Iraq are listed here in alphabetical order. To each species, synonymous names are added chronologically. Separately, distributional information are given as codes. The following lepidopteran families, represented in Iraq, are mentioned with their species number:

For the first time, 1476 species of the Lepidoptera of Pakistan are listed all together here. Among them, 334 butterfly species of 9 families are known. These are as follows; Papilionidae, Pieridae, Argynnidae, Libytheidae, Satyridae, Danaidae, Riodinidae, Lycaenidae, and Hesperiidae. Totally 1142 moth species are recorded in Pakistan. Their families are as follows; Adelidae, Aganaidae, Arctiidae, Autostichidae, Bombycidae, Brachodidae, Brahmaeidae, Carposinidae, Coleophoridae, Cosmopterigidae, Cossidae, Ctenuchidae, Drepanidae, Endromidae, Epermeniidae, Eriocottidae, Ethmiidae, Eupterotidae, Gelechiidae, Geometridae, Gracillariidae, Lasiocampidae, Lecithoceridae, Limacodidae, Lymantriidae, Momphidae, Noctuidae, Notodontidae, Psychidae, Pterophoridae, Pyralidae, Saturniidae, Scythridae, Sesiidae, Sphingidae, Stathmopodidae, Stenomidae, Thaumetopoeidae, Thyatiridae, Tineidae, Tortricidae, Yponomeutidae, Zygaenidae. In this study, 862 publications on the Lepidoptera of Pakistan are evaluated from the taxonomical, faunistical, ecological standpoints, and listed as author index. Besides, the material of the Lepidoptera preserved in the Cesa collection are partly examined. The images of the adults of the collection, as well as the images of the male genitalia in the archive are added to some species.

In this paper, first results of the Hazro excursions of the authors are given. Faunistically 87 species of 21 families are reported from the district for the first time. Totally 42 species are new for Diyarbakır Province. 87 dual distributional maps are prepared. Field observations and prepared material are figured. Male and female genitalia of several species are also illustrated.
