Phenolic analysis

How to analyse plant phenolics by GC-MS? I am doing derivatization by BSTFA, but it is not working.

Hello, what is your derivatization procedure? We use Pyridine-BSTFA-TMSCl (ratio 1:4:1) for GC/GC-MS analysis of extractives in wood samples. You are likely to have a complex mixture of polyphenols in your plant. Consequently, silylate in a test tube, add cap, put the silylated sample in an oven at 70 degrees Celsius for 30-45 min (shake the test tube after 10 minutes) for sufficient silylation, transfer into a GC vial and then run your analysis.

Is it imperative to conduct derivatization before analyzing the microalgae extract using GC-MS? What protocol should be followed if derivatization is deemed unnecessary and the extract is ethanolic?

Sample: plant seeds, and ethanolic extraction assisted by ultrasonic used for our samples. Both identifying and quantifying are being targeted.

We have BSTFA but I don't know the protocol of these process, and it's possible to use only BSTFA or I should mix derivative reagents. I need to know all the conditions of the process and if any other chemicals or reagents needed.

Usually Certified Reference Materials for Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons are certified by using different chromatography methods (GC, LC, Ion Exchance Chromatography) and different detection methods (UV or fluorescence detection, mass spectrometry, flame ionisation detection).

Im looking for a Certified Reference Material which uses Atmopheric Pressure Photoionisation (APPI) or Atmopheric Pressure Laser Ionisatioin (APLI) as an interface between Liquid Chromatography (LC/HPLC) an Mass Spectrometer (MS). Does such a material exist? Is it comercial available?

Can you help me with a problem in Carbohydrate silylation for GC . ?

I have a standard sugar, for which I tried derivatization using BSTFA and pyridine. But I did not get any derivatives and no peak in GC chromatogram. Can you please suggest something?

My reaction mixture consists of performic acid, formic acid and a phenolic compound. To make a kinetic reaction I take some samples from rxn mixture and dilute it with Ethanol. I see the catechol formation, but not the quinone in GC-MS analysis. The rxn mixture is red so there should be some quinones. But why cant i see its presence in these conditions?
