Is there any difference between contrastive linguistics and contrastive analysis?

The feedback I got on the question of the differences between Comparative Linguistics and contrastive  Linguistics triggered this question on the differences between contrastive Linguistics and contrastive analysis, or are they the same? I'm waiting for expert feedback!

Contrastive analysis is a linguistic and psychological approach to SLA, based on stfucturalism in linguistics and behaviorism in psychology. Its aim is pedagogical and is somehow outdated. Contrastive linguistics is a discipline of its own which has several aims and different approaches. Contrastive linguistics is NOT an approach to SLA though its findings usually have some pedagogical goals.

To me, contrastive Linguistics and contrastive analysis are the same deal with the relationship between the languages that a learner knows or acquires. Linguists are always involved in comparing diverse language systems. Mostly, linguists considered didactically concerned with contrastive studies in demanding to guesstimate knowledge problems by comparing inherent dialect (first language or mother tongue) with that of the foreign language or the study of bilingualism. The formulation of the ‘Contrastive Analysis Hypothesis’ in the Linguistics across Cultures (Robert Lado 1957) has achieved a high place in learning contrastive studies (James 1981).

I believe there's a distinction between comparative linguistics, contrastive linguistics, and contrastive analysis. The attached diagram may better tell the relationships and distinctions among these terms.

Contrastive analysis is the systematic study of a pair of languages with a view to identifying their structural differences and similarities. Historically it has been used to establish language genealogies. However, Contrastive linguistics is a practice-oriented linguistic approach that seeks to describe the differences and similarities between a pair of languages (hence it is occasionally called "differential linguistics").
Contrastive Analysis was used extensively in the field of Second Language Acquisition (SLA) in the 1960s and early 1970s, as a method of explaining why some features of a target language were more difficult to acquire than others.
While traditional linguistic studies had developed comparative methods (comparative linguistics), chiefly to demonstrate family relations between cognate languages, or to illustrate the historical developments of one or more languages, modern contrastive linguistics intends to show in what ways the two respective languages differ, in order to help in the solution of practical problems. (Sometimes the terms diachronic linguistics and synchronic linguistics are used to refer to these two perspectives.)

Simply, Comparative linguistics is a piece of chronicled etymology and alludes to the procedure of setting up family connections and recreating proto-dialects (= tribal dialects). However, Contrastive linguistics is part of applied linguistics and tries to set up the similitudes and contrasts between a dialect learner's first dialect and the objective dialect (= the one being found out) with a specific end goal to endeavor to anticipate where learners will have troublesome and commit errors. Conversely, the contrastive analysis would not foresee this issue.
I think, Contrastive linguistics and Contrastive analysis are similar in the sense that both of them are concerned with the comparison of two languages or subsystems of languages in order to determine both the differences and similarities between them. However, they may be different in their purpose. Contrastive Analysis should be done for pedagogical purpose in the classroom(teaching or translation); while Contrastive Analysis may be or may not.
