How to calculate the effect size when conducting a discriminant analysis?

For example, the effect size for a linear regression is usually measured by Cohen's f2 = r2 / (1  - r2),
However i would like to do the same for an discriminant analysis. How should i measure it?

If i calculate the partial eta squared (η2) is not the same as calculating the effect size?
