Cell cycle analysis?
Can cell cycle analysis be performed from the supernatant in cell culture?

In addition to what Emad Hussein said, using supernatant containing some dead cells and debris would increase the percentage of the subG1 population dramatically. As a result, the percentage of other populations (i.e., G0/G1, S, G2/M) would be abnormally decreased. Hence, any study on cell cycle including the cell cycle arrest will be cloudy.

Over the past year, considerable progress has been made in understanding shear sensitivity in animal cell culture as a result of extensive theoretical and experimental work. Here we review this progress, paying special attention to the physical and biological mechanisms by which mechanical forces act upon cells, and the effects of such forces.
