Is the use of non salient pole PMSMs a good idea in automotive traction applications?

What are the issues to be encountred when flux-weakening of PMSM at large speed intervals?

I have seen that almost all four-wheeler commercial vehicles or power requirements over 10 kW, PMSM or Induction motors are used. Is the reason behind this is more torque ripple and lower speed range of BLDC motors? What are the other reasons?

But if I want to use a BLDC motor for a power requirement of around 40 kW in an EV, considering better power density, what are the disadvantages that can be faced. What are the other advantages of BLDC that can support its application in this case?

Is there any commercial EV that is using a BLDC motor for the power requirement range of 30-50 kW?

Dear Researchers, could you please suggest any useful and clear references about estimation of parameters of PMSM using measurement tools? I need to know experimental values of inductance, resistance, magnetic flux and pole pair number. Thanks!

I'm trying to control a pmsm current using finite control set MPC using the book (PID and Predictive Control of Electrical Drives and Power Converters using MATLAB / Simulink), when I'm using PMSM model in simscape everything is fine and currents can track id and iq (currents in dq reference frame) but the problem is PMSM model is based on modified park transform (90 degree behind phase a) and our calculations are based on original park.

when I change the PMSM model park transform to original park results change and FCS-MPC does not work properly.

does anybody have this problem?

I have tried the methods of institutes in Nurmberg/Erlangen and Torino, but get failures to the worths of Ld(id,iq) and Lq(id,iq) the producer gives to us.

I want to create a Lookup-Tables of Ld(id,iq),Lq(id,iq), PsiPM(id,iq).

In the following attached files, you can find the method for calculating the direct axis inductance (Ld) and quadrature axis inductance (Lq) with respect to a star wound rotor. To explain briefly, in order to measure Ld, I would block my rotor in a position where the direct axis of the permanent magnet is in line with the A-Phase of the rotor. At this point, I can conduct a DC Decay Test (pls refer attached document - ACTA-2013-1-07.pdf). In case of a star winding, I would multiply the obtained value by (2/3) and thus get my Ld value. Same goes for Lq, but I would block it in a position which is 90° electrically ahead. But in my case, I have a PMSM with a delta wound rotor. Can anyone suggest, how to calculate the Ld and Lq incase of a delta winding. 

One part of my thesis is the comparison between the losses of SIC and IGBT inverters. Since my previous question for the SIC could be answered, I only need some further help with the losses for a IGBT half bridge (DC to AC, sinusoidal modulated PWM).

The conduction losses are done, but I have some troubles with the reverse recovery losses of the low-side. According to the datasheet, reverse recovery charge for the diode is Q_RR = 68 µC. I tried to calculate the losses with P = Q_RR * V_in * F_sw / 2 (it is divided by 2, because I only look at the positive half wave of my sinusoidal shaped output). With a voltage of 800 V and a switching frequency of 18 kHz, I get 489,6 W, which obviously is too high.

The datasheet provides for calculation of the switching losses also E_on = 33 mJ and E_off = 42 mJ (I come to the same values if I calculate the energy with rise and fall time). Since the switching energy is much higher than for my SIC-module (6,05 mJ), I am curious if the switching energy of the datasheet already includes the diode reverse recovery losses?
