Are there any good free fish swimming tracker software for mac?

I recently experience increasing mortality in my zebrafish,

Starting as early as 8 days post hatch but sometimes even later fish show abnormal swimming behaviour.

They swim in circles or spin around their axis head downwards. Fish showing these symptoms die within days.

Using a binocular I cant identify deformations or any morphological abnormalities.

I already tried different fish origins, feeding protocols and water analysis was also ok.

I have acquired the power spectrum density from turbulent data (plotting [m^2 s^2 Hz^-1] over [Hz]), using welch's method and am trying to translate this to an approximate eddy diameter. This is important for fish swimming in turbulent flows, as fish tend to be affected by certain eddy diameters more than others. So it would be useful to find a "cutoff" frequency beyond which specific fish will likely be unaffected.

Judging from publications such as Bruno and Carbone 2013 ( doi:10.12942/lrsp-2013-2 ) it seems to be possible to translate frequency spectra to the kolmogorov and taylor scale (see attached image), but I have found no straightforward method of doing this for arbitrary eddy sizes. Perhaps it cannot be done. If so, then knowing that would be helpful too, so that I can stop searching.

I am currently tracking the swimming behaviours of marine invertebrates after exposure to UVC. I have tried a lot of open-source tracking software with not much luck.

Our design has 9 wells and an individual in each and we are recording them for one minute. The attached file is a screenshot of one of our videos - sorry the contrast is so high we were attempting to use a programme that relied on contrast detection between the object and the background.

We have attempted tox track, and while it has a great user interface and it first appeared to be working it kept crashing / not tracking the individuals. Trackmate by ImageJ and Tracktor were also unsuccessful. I have also tried pathfinder but after multiple downloads of different versions of R it still came up with not compatible.

So we are hoping to use Ethovision but before I start the free trial I was hoping to hear some honest feedback about your experience and opinions on if this will work for us?

I am currently using ZebTrack to analyse some open field data and have managed to analyse ~110 videos that are 17 minutes in length with no problem. However, due to a camera malfunction, 14 videos are only 5 minutes in length and ZebTrack won't allow me to track the fish as it comes up with lots of error messages in the MATLAB console. Does anyone know if there is a minimum video length limit for video analysis in ZebTrack and/or whether there is a way around this problem?

Ideally something free or open source. Our current in-house system has some flaws when it comes to naming strains, and is becoming problematic for tracking strains with multiple mutations of known or unknown zygosity as well as transgenes. ZEbase, Zebrabase and Facile Fish all look like they don't have great systems for managing mortalities and feeding records. If you have experience with these systems, please let me know your thoughts!

I am now studying the structure, innervation and NEC distribution in the respiratory swim bladdet of the Amazon breathing fish Arapaima,Did this fish have more counterpart to some fossil forms(actinistians ) ?

In some more recent publications acclimatisation periods are much shorter (e.g. 30min). The longer acclimatisation periods will inevitably severely limit the number of replicates that can be performed. I'm just wondering what the justification is either way?

I am studying two closely related fish species. When observed in an aquarium, it turned out that they have different positions in the horizontal plane (see figure). How can this be explained? What literature is there in this area?

I am currently writing a research proposal for my master's thesis. I intend on investigating inter-individual differences in cownose ray (Rhinoptera bonasus) behavior in a touch pool setting. I have looked into a lot of different tracking software and ID methods, but none seem particularly reliable for the species I am attempting to use them for. Their kite-shaped body and low visual difference (especially above and from a distance) and my intention of using the least invasive marking techniques (preferably no marking techniques) have made it difficult to determine how best to track them.

Any suggestions for tracking software, ID software, or marking methods would be greatly appreciated.
