Question
Asked 12th Sep, 2016

"A drone a day keeps the doctor away?" – or – Beyond the catchy title: Any research concerning drones for regional development?

My question:
– Do you know of any research concerning possible uses of drones for regional development?
I am looking for research conerning transport, health, culture, recreation, service.
In relation to regional development, political issues, case studies, explorative research...
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Carlos Viktorsson

And Gene, thank you for your comment -- I agree, using drones in that way puts them into a very good use and is very necessary.

There are quite a few examples in healthcare. Using drones to deliver products is one area now being explored both in the USA and Europe-
There has also been some interest in using drones in other areas of healthcare but clearly the safety issues have to be overcome (particularly for the delivery of human tissue and/or organs) -

I'm not aware of research, but I do know that conversationists are using drones in Sumatra to track poachers and those engaged in illegal burning and cutting of the forests.  Seems like a good use to me.
