The floristic survey of the Menyanthaceae from Bahia, Brazil, is presented as a further contribution to the knowledge of the Flora of that State. Only Nymphoides humboldtiana was recognized for Bahia; N. indica , previously cited for Brazil, is restricted to the Old World. ... The spatial distribution of floristic studies in the Espinhaço Range is presented in Figure 2. In total, Floras are distributed in 13 points: five in Espinhaço Meridional + Serra do Cabral, three in Espinhaço meridional, and five in Chapada Diamantina. There are four unplaced local in the map, because they are regions and not only a locality: Central Portion of Espinhaço Range (Andrino & Costa 2013), Chapada Diamantina (Torres et al. 2003;Ribeiro et al. 2005;Ferreira et al. 2012;Pimenta et al. 2019), Diamantina Plateau (Shimizu & Yamamoto 2012), and Espinhaço Range (Lohmann & Pirani 1996;Melo 2000;Rapini 2001;Lima & Pirani 2003;Araujo et al. 2005;Oliveira et al. 2010;Rapini 2010). In some cases, the locality indicated in the article's title differ from that wherein the floristic study took place (ex: Staudt et al. 2017); we advise against that. ...
... We assembled 3,191 plant species belonging to 214 families and 949 genera; of these, 2,879 are angiosperms, 247 bryophytes, and 75 lycophytes and ferns. We highlight that all bryophytes are from Flora da Serra do Cipó (Yano & Peralta 2011) and Flora do Grão-Mogol (Yano & Peralta 2009), whilst all Lycophytes and Ferns are from one of three localities: Serra do Cipó, Grão-Mogol, or Chapada Diamantina (Windisch & Prado 1990;Prado 1992;Windisch 1992;Prado & Windisch 1996;Prado 1997;Prado & Labiak 2003;Ferreira et al. 2012). The Flora do Brasil (2020) indicates 49,992 plant species in Brazil; therefore, at least 6,3% of the Brazilian flora was sampled in floristic studies carried out in the Espinhaço Range. ...

The campo rupestre in the Espinhaço Range is subject of many floristic studies due to its high rates of species diversity and endemism. These studies are made up of critical, easily accessible data about local richness and biodiversity, which are essential for subsidizing new studies in the fields of conservation, ecology, and systematics. This study describes the results of a survey of floristic studies carried out in the Espinhaço Range and provides a checklist of the plant species listed in them. We found that 294 floristic studies were conducted in the Espinhaço Range, but they were focused only on a few areas. Likewise, we detected sampling gaps in some areas. The Floras studied provide information on 3,191 plants or 6,3% Brazilian flora, of which 2,879 are angiosperms, 247 bryophytes, and 65 lycophytes and ferns. Finally, we observed a lack of standardization regarding the habits reported for angiosperms shrubs and subshrubs which is more problematic for Espinhaço’s flora because of its grasslands or shrublands vegetation. Thereby, we reaffirm the importance and need to encourage new floristic studies in the Espinhaço Range as a means to train new taxonomists and to provide new studies and projects. As part of a floristic project dealing with the ferns and lycophytes from the region of Viçosa in Minas Gerais, Brazil, we present a taxonomic treatment of the Schizaeales. Seven species of Anemia occur in the region: A. hirsuta, A. hispida, A. mandioccana, A. mickelii, sp. nov., A. phyllitidis, A. raddiana, and A. tomentosa var. tomentosa. Based on morphology and field studies, we found four hybrids: A. hirsuta × A. mickelii (= A. × mexiae, hybrid nov.), A. hispida × A. mickelii (= A. × semihispida, hybrid nov.), A. hirsuta × A. phyllitidis (= A. ×semihirsuta), and A. mickelii × A. ×semihirsuta (= A. ×promiscua, hybrid nov.). Two species of Lygodium occur in the region (L. venustum and L. volubile) and their hybrid, L. ×fayae. Among the five hybrids documented here, three are reported for the first time in the literature, and two are reported for the first time in Brazil. We also present keys to species and hybrids, descriptions, illustrations, lists of examined material, and updated geographical distributions of all taxa.

The state of Paraíba presents common faces of domains of Atlantic Forest and Caatinga that provide necessary conditions for the establishment of ferns, especially family Anemiaceae Link (Schizaeales). With the proposal to deepen the knowledge of Anemiaceae in Paraíba, this work aims to present the richness of species in this family, the conservation status, geographical distribution in the state, global distribution patterns, describe the morphological characteristics and provide an identification key to the species found. Collecting expeditions were carried out in several conservation areas, bibliographic surveys in the Northeast and consultations in herbaria. Anemiaceae is represented by a single genus Anemia Sw. and mainly characterized by basal pinnae modified in fertile spikes. Seven species of Anemiaceae were recorded for the Paraíba: Anemia dentata Gardner, Anemia hirsuta (L.) Sw., Anemia hirta (L.) Sw., Anemia hispida Kunze, Anemia nervosa Pohl, Anemia tomentosa (Sav.) Sw. and Anemia villosa Humb. & Bonpl. ex Willd. This work has resulted in an increase of two new records for the Flora of Paraíba: A. hirsuta and A. hirta. The species found were more frequent in forest environments, but also to records in the Caatinga. Most of them are not threatened for the state (4), but two were presumably threatened status and one probably extinct.

Entre os levantamentos específicos para o grupo, destacamse os realizados na Chapada Diamantina por Edwards (1995), Øllgaard (1995), Prado (1995), Barros (1998), Barros & Araújo (2000), Prado (2003), Nonato (2005) e Ferreira et al. The work presents species of ferns and lycophytes from a remnant of Atlantic Forest located in a semi-arid region, in the Serra da Jibóia, municipality of Santa Teresinha, State of Bahia, Brazil. We also analyzed the floristic similarities of this area with other regions in Brazil. In total, 97 species were presented, representing 51 genera and 22 families. The most representative families were Dryopteridaceae (17 spp.), Polypodiaceae (16 spp.), Pteridaceae (12 spp.), and Hymenophyllaceae (10 spp.). Most species occur as epiphytes (48%), whereas 38% are terrestrial, 3% are lythophyte, 3% are hemiepiphyte and 8% present more than one type of habit. The similarity analysis showed that the flora of ferns and lycophytes from Serra da Jibóia is related to the Southern Bahia State and Southeastern Brazil areas, suggesting similar environmental conditions among those areas.
