What we believe to be a first theoretical study of transverse mode instability (TMI) in oscillators based on a stimulated thermal Rayleigh scattering (STRS) model is conducted. Higher order mode (HOM) lasing is found to happen at high powers. Further fundamental mode (FM) growth is limited once HOM lasing takes place, with further increase of pump...

Effect of hybrid gain medium and highly nonlinear fiber on multiwavelength fiber laser is presented. Hybrid gain medium produces more lasing lines (50) and higher extinction ratio (17 dB) compared to single gain medium.

Random fiber laser, as a kind of novel fiber laser that utilizes random distributed feedback as well as Raman gain, has become a research focus owing to its advantages of wavelength flexibility, modeless property and output stability. Herein, a tunable optical parametric oscillator (OPO) enabled by a random fiber laser is reported for the first tim...

We demonstrated a 2µm switchable, tunable and power-controllable dual-wavelength fiber laser by adjusting the center wavelengths of FBGs and the cavity losses, respectively. The topology is based on the parallel connection of FBGs using 3×3coupler.
