The objective of this paper is to assist efforts to improve the power plant performance by utilising fogging for inlet cooling of gas turbine cycles and steam injection method through what is known as the FSTIG (gas-turbine cycle with steam injection and simultaneous fog cooling) cycle. The results show that a gas-turbine cycle with steam injection...

This article presents the energy and exergy analysis of a combined power cycle. The topping gas turbine (GT) plant consists of one air compressor, one fuel compressor, one combustion chamber and one GT. Methane is used as fuel in the combustion chamber of the GT cycle. The bottoming cycle includes one heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), one steam...

This paper is a presentation of a parametric study on coal gasification on gas turbine combined power cycle by syngas. Combined first and second law analysis is performed to investigate the effects of gas turbine inlet temperature, steam turbine inlet pressure and then exergy destruction in each component of combined power cycle. The variation in s...

This study aims to present a method for precooling bleed flow by water injection in the E-MATIANT cycle and to estimate its impact on the overall efficiency. The design parameters of the cycle are set up on the basis of the component technologies of today’s state-of-the-art gas turbines with a turbine inlet temperature between 1100 and 1700 ◦C. Sev...

In this work, the influence of ambient temperature in gas turbines in a coastal subtropical zone was studied, both under design conditions and after years of operation. Statistical methods, direct observation, and expert judgment were used during the study. The fundamental parameters of this machine were statistically processed and compared, depending on the variation of the ambient temperature, plotting their influence before and after maintenance, and with their original behavior. It was found that the high temperature produces a decrease in power of about 2.5 MW. As a possible solution, the cooling of the inlet air was evaluated by different methods, selecting the absorption cooling method, which has a positive impact on the environment, although the size of this equipment is disadvantageous. The economic convenience was verified by the cash flow method, resulting in 6 years of recovery.

... In recent years, numerous and extensive researches have been conducted to evaluate thermal power systems from both energy and exergy analyses point of view (Bilgen, 2000;Ray et al., 2007;Khaldi and Adouane, 2011;Chen et al., 2014;Soltani et al., 2015;Martin et al., 2016;Ganapathy et al., 2009;Egware and Obanor, 2013b;Ahmadi et al., 2011). Table 1 shows the brief summary of studies on proportion of exergy destruction in various components of thermal plant by different authors and year of study. ...
... In this regard, they could achieve nearly 70% improvement in net power output. Also, the fogging technique of inlet air cooling was used with a steam injected gas turbine in research of Athari et al. [15,16]. They considered both natural gas and gasified biomass fuels and compared the cycle performance from energy, exergy and exergoeconimic points of view. ...
... -Methane is used as the fuel in the combustion chamber and its lower heating value (LHV) and chemical exergy are taken to be 802,361 kJ/kmol (50,010 kJ/kg) and 824,348 kJ/kmol (51,521.8 kJ/ kg), respectively [16]. Also, the fuel temperature and pressure are taken to be the ambient temperature and combustion chamber pressure, respectively. ...
