... and Den Hartog (2009) mention an example of an event or emotion episode namely, performance feedback. These events trigger positive or negative emotions that influence behaviour and motivation at work (see Figure 1). Michel and Clark (2009) investigated the AET and conclude that, according to the AET, affect can be classified into positive affect (PA) and negative affect (NA). ...

... Vlie Holmdal and Einarsen (2011) conclude that this theory indicates what happens between work events and subsequent employee attitudes and behaviour by focusing on the role of personality and emotion. The theory provides a comprehensive account of the antecedents and consequences of the structure of emotion episodes at work (see Figure 1). The AET argues that employees' attitudes towards the environment follow a cognitive as well as an affective route. ...

... This is especially so when the employer is unsympathetic to the student's academic career. Feelings of frustration with non-performing colleagues, anger about irate customers and interaction with unsympathetic managers are all contributing factors that cause emotion in the workplace (Jonker & Van der Merwe, 2013). These unhealthy emotions may, in turn, lead to higher levels of stress or anxiety, reduced performance and low feelings of self-esteem or efficacy. ...

Incivility is a silent disruption and a contemporary workplace crisis which commonly occurs in an organization. Experience of workplace incivility is defined as the frequency of experience of low intensity by employee in relation to deviant workplace behavior with ambiguous intention to the target of the violation of workplace norms with mutual consideration. Most studies on workplace incivility have shown that occurrence of workplace incivility has negative consequences for both individual employees and the whole organization. The mediator between workplace incivility and work consequences has to be explored and investigated to more understand their correlation. Using the affective event theory will predict significantly emotional exhaustion mediate the relationship between experienced of workplace incivility to turnover intention and psychological well-being. Research about experience of workplace incivility and its consequences need to be explored and adapted with millennial employees who are the back bone of organization in the future.

Power engineering students need to register for and successfully complete a capstone module within the Baccalaureus Technologiae qualification in Electrical Engineering in South Africa. These students need to submit six different assignments over a period of 10 months, comprising a proposal, a progress report, a poster, a power point presentation, a conference paper and a final report. However, it has been observed that the final grades of working students have fluctuated dramatically over the past three years, leading to the following research question “What may be contributing to these fluctuations?” The purpose of this paper is to discuss the fluctuations and provide possible reasons for them based on literature applicable to this field. An exploratory case study is used to provide quantitative data of the student final grades from 2014 – 2016. Results show that the pass rate varied from 71% to 77% to 56%. Furthermore, some 18 students submitted their proposal in 2016, but never submitted the other five assignments. This concern may be related to load shedding by both students and academics, rather than load shifting. A key recommendation of this research is to share its findings with top management of student employers and the university, thereby hoping to create awareness of the importance of lightening the workloads of employed students andacademics during important submission periods of capstone modules.

The present article aimed to carry out reflections with the purpose of understanding similarities and differences between the concepts of life quality at work, well-being and happiness at work. National and international articles and books have been analyzed. The analysis of the material has allowed to point out that, despite the lack of theoretical consensus and the use of those as synonyms, specially between "life quality and well-being" and "well-being and happiness", it has been pointed out that these are different concepts, although complementary. While life quality regards physical health and objective issues, the concepts of well-being and happiness promotion make up for the lack related to workers' emotions and feelings. The study allows clarification on the presented constructs, giving them greater visibility and favoring their adequate use in the literature related to the worker´s health.

Capturing, structuring and disseminating knowledge is critical for success, yet challenging. For knowledge sharing to happen, it is necessary to create an appropriate environment. This environment is not enough to stimulate such sharing; other variables can influence the interaction of individuals. We contend that a variable calling for further attention is positive emotions. Hence, the goal of this study is to identify research that addresses sharing and positive emotions. We describe the systematic approach taken for identifying and analyzing these studies. We find a variety of useful insights in these studies. However, we suggest that there is room for additional research to examine knowledge management and positive emotions in the future. Lastly, the initial results of this project highlight the importance of IS researchers developing a multilingual understanding of phenomena that they study.

The objective of this article is to present the actual state of building knowledge about work happiness and its significance, as well as the field of knowledge of positive psychology in business organizations and workplace. For this reason, an integrative review was carried out, through 24 articles indexed in the databases Pepsic, Lilacs and Scielo. It was observed that well-being, especially the subjective, is used as a synonym for happiness. Although related, the concepts of well-being and happiness, present distinctions, due to their specificities. In only two articles, they used happiness as a phenomenon without associating it with another construct, one being published by Barros, Martín and Pinto (2010) and the other by Silva and Tolfo (2012). Through the studies carried out here, it was possible to discover that the interest in the subject, although it is intensifying, is recent in the academy and such scarcity represents an opportunity for the development of new studies. The construction of Happiness at Work represents a challenge for psychologists interested in understanding the subject. Such scarcity represents an opportunity for the development of new studies, with the intention of discovering new and positive perspectives of life, for all those interested in the organizational life.

Human behaviour in economic interactions has attracted an increasing amount of attention over the last decades. The economic assumption that people would behave focusing on their own material self-interest was proved incomplete, once the empirical evidence consistently showed that many other motives may influence such behaviour. Therefore, models that can incorporate rational decision process as well as other intervening factors are a key issue to both understand the observations from economic experiments and to apply the lessons learned from them. In this paper, we incorporate the influence of emotions to the utility function in an explicit manner, using the Ultimatum Game as a case study. Our model is amenable to analytical study, and is connected with the Circumplex model of emotions and with Kahneman's two-system theory. The simplicity of the model allows to obtain predictions for the offers and acceptance thresholds. We study two specific examples, when the model parameters are distributed uniformly or normally, and show that in the latter case the results are already qualitatively correct. Although this work can be considered as a first approach, it includes what we believe are the main stylized facts, is able to qualitatively reproduce experimental results in a very simple manner, and can be straightforwardly extended to other games.
