... There were also more recent studies on MI and learning styles that tried to understand gender differences in learning styles and multiple intelligences for better pedagogical practices and to promote equal learning outcomes for all students. Maxilom (2016), for one, conducted a study on the learning styles and multiple intelligences of students at the University of San Carlos. Contrary to the researcher's initial perception of the students as being restless and unable to concentrate in class, it was discovered that the students were self-aware and actively engaged in the learning process, as participants in the study had a variety of intelligence profiles. ...

Student profiling and learning strategies have gained the interest of many researchers. In language learning in particular, understanding students’ learning strategies as well as their multiple intelligence profiles is significant because it allows the teachers to develop and design lessons and materials that are customised to their diverse learning needs. Hence, this study investigates the Multiple Intelligences (MI) and Language Learning Strategy (LLS) profiles of students from various science and technology faculties of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Terengganu, with a focus on gender differences. The study’s objectives were to determine the dominant students’ MI profiles, their preferred LLS, and gender variations in these variables. Two instruments were adopted in this study, namely McKenzie’s Multiple Intelligences Inventory and the Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL). The findings indicated that the students mostly acquire introspective intelligence, and the majority of male respondents use metacognitive learning strategies. However, the findings revealed a significant positive relationship between MI and LLS. Based on these findings, the study emphasises the importance of incorporating MI and LLS in language teaching and learning and provides recommendations for language teachers to create lesson plans and teaching materials that suit the students’ needs.
... The respondents in this study were one hundred and seventy-two (172) and the data was collected through Perceptual Learning Style Preference Questionnaire (1987). The above finding was also supported by Maxilom (2016) as in her study among the Science in Business Administration students, it revealed that the students preferred to learn English 2 classes through intrapersonal intelligence, bodily-kineastatic intelligence as well as naturalists intelligence and interpersonal intelligence as they have the similar weighted mean. ...
... Meanwhile, according to the study by Awang, Abdul Samad, Mohammad Faiz, Roddin and Kankia (2017), they indicated that the highest learning style among the students was kineastatic. ...

Generally, individuals have different ways and particular preferences when processing new information in learning. It is also believed that their language learning styles are one of the main indicators that contribute to their academic performance. This study aims to identify Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) learner’s learning styles in English language courses. The selected respondents for this study were three hundred and twenty-nine (329) undergraduates at UMK who were taking the English language courses I, II and III. A ninety (90) items of self-administered questionnaire was adapted from established questionnaire on Multiple Intelligences Theory (MIT) whilst, another fifty-five (55) items were on undergraduates’ learning styles. The total items in this study were one hundred and forty-five (145). The findings showed that the majority of the respondents prefer Musical Intelligence the most and the Naturalist Intelligence the least. The implication of this study is on the challenges faced by the lecturers in identifying the possible language teaching methods that could accommodate and work for all the learners since there are learners with different MI within one classroom.
