This paper presents an experimental method for assessing the performances and the propulsion power of a UAV in several points based on telemetry. The points in which we make the estimations are chosen based on several criteria and the fallowing parameters are measured: airspeed, time-to-climb, altitude and the horizontal distance. With the estimate...

UAV platforms often use commercial off the shelf electric propulsion units for thrust generation. The manufacturers of these electric motors often only include the maximum efficiency or a list of efficiencies coupled with specific rotors. Taking into account the effect of the electronic speed control, many combinations are possible, making it hard...

The article proposes the design of a test bench simulator to test a parallel hybrid propulsion architecture for aeronautical applications. The virtual test bench simulates, in a scaled version, the real test bench, designed for a power of about 0.4 MW. After presenting the architecture of the real propulsion system, the virtual test bench is descri...

Determination of UAV system configuration for oil palm harvest prediction application is an important step in plantation production maximization. The objective of this paper is to demonstrate how UAV systems can be used to produce high-resolution images that can be used to predict crops. The study is divided into two stages: UAV system configuratio...

Abstract: This paper presents an unconventional tri-rotor unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) design that only employs three brushless motors with three fixed pitch propellers for propulsion and flight control. No additional mechanics for dynamically tilting motor(s), found on existing tricopters, are used. The dynamic model of the proposed system is dev...

During the early phases of aircraft design, there is the need to validate the configuration, based on intended missions and implications in operating cost. The paper presents a method for the fuel planning type of mission analysis-to obtain the quantity of fuel, given the payload and distance, taking into account a mission profile, regulations and operational options. The reference vertical flight profile is presented, along with hypotheses. Brief theoretical considerations regarding the main segments are presented showing the models used for obtaining the data and a work algorithm. Examples of analysis are presented for a small commercial aircraft theoretical model.
