The paper analyzes the research contributions by the faculty members of the Department of Physics, Sav itribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Pune, Maharashtra, India for the period 1990-2014. Bibliographic and citation data were retrieved from Scopus database. Query statements covering all variations in the name of SPPU were used to search the database. Scopus indexed 1629 publications with 22618 citations for the period. Author keywords in Scopus database indicate that faculty members are working in core areas of physics as well as interdisciplinary subjects like chemistry, instrumentation sciences, engineering, etc. The year-wise analysis shows that research productivity of faculty member increased over the period. Faculty members published their research in core physics journals among which Journal of Applied Physics (72 papers) is the most preferred journal. The faculty members of the University have collaborated with scientists from USA, UK, Germany and Japan. At the national level, the U niversity physicists have collaborated most with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre.

This research paper highlights the current state of scientific research in National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITKS) Surathkal, Mangalore for the period 2001-2017. The study gives an analysis of the volume, productivity and scientific impact of NITK Surathkal research as per the records entered in the SCOPUS publications and citation database during the period 2001-2017. There were 4038 articles published in 978 leading national and international primary resources during the study period. During 2001-2017 the NITK Surathkal has received a total of 20122 citations. The average number of publication published per year was 237.53 and the average number of citations per year was 1183.65 The average number of citations per publication was 4.98 Authorship pattern revealed that about 98.07 % of publications were multi-authored and only 1.93 % single authored. It is indicative of the trend towards multi-authored publications.

This part of the study highlights the contents of the published articles in terms of various disciplines or sub-disciplines and the bibliometric aspects discussed in these articles. The analysis of 902 papers published by Indian scholars during 1995-2014 indicates that the main focus of bibliometrics/scientometrics is on assessment of science and technology in India in different sub-disciplines including contributions by Indian states and other individual countries followed by bibliometric analysis of individual journals. Papers dealing with bibliometric laws received a low priority as compared to other sub-disciplines of bibliometrics/scientometrics. The analysis of data indicates that the share of theoretical studies using mathematical and statistical techniques which were missing in the earlier period (1970-1994) has increased during 1995-2014. The field of medicine as a discipline received the highest attention as compared to other disciplines. © 2018, National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (NISCAIR). A total of 32286 publications were published on nuclear physics during the period 2004-2013. It was found that the number of published articles was higher in USA, Germany, Japan, Italy, France, China and Russia, etc. The highest number of publications 5,407 (16.75%) was published in 2012. The average number of publications published per year was 3228.6. The highest growth rate (64.90%) was observed in 2012. Out of the total publications 93.30% of contributions were collaborated with multi authorship and 6.70% of contributions were collaboration with single authors. The highest value of collaboration coefficient (CC) was 0.62 in 2008. Overall collaboration rate was very high. Physics and Astronomy accounts for the largest share 23413 (72.52%) of publications in the total worldwide output on nuclear physics followed by Medicine with 6608 (20.47%) publications.
