The present paper focuses on the silica-scaled chrysophytes from the Cam Ranh Peninsula (Vietnam). Electron microscopy revealed thirty-six taxa, of which twenty-nine belong to the genus Mallomonas. The others are species of the genera Synura (4), Spiniferomonas (1), Chrysosphaerella (1) and Paraphysomonas (1). Seven taxa are reported for the fi rst...

... Typical specimens of new plants are added to the Herbarium owing to continuing work of scientists of Moscow State University in the field of plant systematics. For example, 60 new vascular plant species were described by botanists of the University over the period of 2012-2016 (Ukrainskaja et al., 2013;Pimenov and Klyuikov, 2014;Seregin et al., 2015;Sukhorukov and Kushunina, 2015a, 2015bSukhorukov et al., 2015Vislobokov, 2015;Duyfjes et al., 2016;Koçyiğit et al., 2016;Lyskov et al., 2016;Pimenov et al., 2016;Sukhorukov and Nilova, 2016;Yurtseva et al., 2016aYurtseva et al., , 2016b. The collection was used as a basic source for several important molecular revisions of some groups of plants (Degtjareva et al., 2013;Seregin et al., 2015;Kramina et al., 2016;Yurtseva et al., 2016b). ...

In 2015–2016, 785887 specimens were scanned at the Herbarium of Moscow State University (MW), which comprised 77.7% of the total collection. The metadata of the digital herbarium include the identifier (ID) of each specimen, its species name, and geographical reference (area code). As the largest in Russia database with respect to biodiversity, the Herbarium includes 712925 images of specimens of vascular plants and 72962 specimens of bryophytes. The digital herbarium is interrelated with the Catalogue of Life international database and has enriched it with 160 new species. Images of 781882 specimens have been put online as JPG files (the resolution is 300 dpi) on the web portal of the National Depository Bank of Live Systems (https://plant.depo.msu.ru/). The portal is open for all Russian biological collections.

The Moscow University Herbarium (MW) added a millionth specimen to the collections in June 2016. Today, there are 1 011 253 specimens in MW collections (61th place in the world’s ranking) representing 37 100 species and subspecies of vascular plants and 2223 species and subspecies of bryophytes. An average annual growth of the collection in 2005—2016 was 15 100 specimens, with exceptional 22 013 specimens added to the herbarium in 2016. Since 2005, major accessions have originated from Eastern Europe, Siberia and Russian Far East, the Caucasus, and South Asia (vascular plants); Taimyr, Russian Far East, and North Caucasus (bryophytes). The Moscow University Herbarium has gained budget for the digitisation of collections within the Program of the National Depository Bank of Live Systems, and ca. 786 000 specimens (77.7 %) were scanned since May 2015. Ca. 502 000 records are published already on our web-portal (http://plant.depo.msu.ru/, https://plant.mitotech.ru/), including JPG images and metadata required for indexing. A brief review of publications based on a study of MW collections in 2005—2016 is given.
