... various shots from different positions and distances, the trajectories realized by the ball, can be assimilated as at the model of parabolic curve, depending on the angle of departure of the ball (Mondoni, 2002). One of the sports where you can notice this parabolic motion is basketball, since the player must try to pull a ball in a basket placed higher than him and therefore the trajectory of the ball you will get from the union of two movement, from that with speed uniform oblique, for picking up the ball, and uniformly accelerated down for force of gravity (Fig. 2). The stationary ball in the hands of the shooter will not have any moment, due to its lack in velocity, but it will still have inertia as a force will have to be applied to change its state of motion (Blazevich, 2007). In order to change the ball state of motion force beginning at the shooter's feet and ending and working its way up the body to the fingertips will have to be applied to direct the ball at the intended target. Research conducted by Rojas, Cepero, Oña, and Gutierrez (2000) has suggested that the velocity that the ball is released at does not change dramatically when comparing shooting a jump shot with pressure and without defensive pressure. Rather than producing more velocity into the shot itself, a player is therefore more likely to implement other kinetic changes in order to overcome the pressure placed on the shot by a defensive ...

Sport, particularly in the realm of professional competition, is a domain of human endeavor that is increasingly dependent on the use of analytical statistical information. Consequently, mathematics and statistics are becoming increasingly crucial elements in sports. Although experts recognize the importance of analytics in women's basketball, the literature addressing this subject remains limited. The objective of this study is to employ quantitative methodologies to discover prevailing patterns in global women's basketball representation. The entities examined in this article were the games contested during the 2021 Olympic Games, the 2022 World Cup, and the 2023 continental championships. Two regression models were created for the research, using thirteen standard variables observed in the game. The evaluation of the regression model was conducted using the stepwise regression method, incorporating dimensionality reduction based on the outcomes of factor analysis. Among the 14 models that were observed, 13 of them exhibited strong and moderate linkages, while only 1 displayed weak connections and lacked statistical significance. The primary factors that account for the disparity between winning and losing teams in games are primarily associated with shooting accuracy toward the basket. When examining individual championships, the percentage surpassed 50% in all cases except for AfroBasket. However, when considering the overall results, the significance of shooting rose to 86%. The variable representing offensive rebound efficiency had a significant influence on the outcome, being present in all individual competitions, whereas defensive rebound efficiency was only considered in the overall results.

Basketball player's performance and skills can be enhanced with an intelligent feedback system that uses machine learning and sensor data. One of the sources for this kind of system is IMU(Inertial measurement unit) sensor data that is obtained from the basketball goal assembly which comprises of the backboard, rim, and netting. In this paper, the correlation of successful free throw shots with the nature of the physical disturbance the shot causes to the basketball goal assembly is investigated. A machine learning-based model that predicts the success of the shots made was developed and proposed for implementation, using data collected from the goal assembly. For feature selection, machine learning model training, and accuracy comparison, the MATLAB 2021 classification learner is employed. In addition, using various machine learning models, a classification model for shot success based on disturbance of possible combinations of the three parts of the goal assembly is investigated. According to a preliminary experiment findings and examinations of the data gathered, the SVM classifier can accurately distinguish made or missed free throws with an accuracy of 87.7%. Furthermore, the ensemble tree classifier predicted missed and successful shots, with detail of where the ball touched before passing through the net(pure net; rim and net; all), with an accuracy of 76.1%. These classification models can be used as a baseline to improve players' shooting performance because our experiments demonstrate a strong correlation between shot success and sensor data. It can also be used as a source of additional information for the growth of modern basketball training and coaching.
... Implementing basketball-specific high-intensity training is time-efficient for two reasons. One reason is the shorter time required compared to high-volume resistance training; the other reason is the integration of technical skills into high intensity training [26]. The exercises were carried out at high intensity, allowing each player to rest even for a few seconds. ...
... With the introduction of wearable systems as data collection devices in the past decade, it has become significantly easier to analyze the components of a player's shot form. These advancements have produced new research on the physics and biomechanics of shooting [1], as well as prompted the development of devices that provide players themselves with real-time information that can be used to inform and improve practice routines [2]. It turns out that certain features in shot data provide immense amounts of information regarding the form and physical technique that can be implemented in a variety of useful applications [3]. ...
... Following the diagram in Figure 1, 3-point shots were taken from approximately 20 feet from the basket, which was raised to regulation height. 20 shots were taken with "good" form, with Figure 1: Basketball court dimensions reference diagram used for this experiment [1] the experimenter following shot form guidelines as ideally as possible. During data collection, a similarly timed sequence was followed during every trial with good form: raise the ball from the waist, set, shoot, follow-through. ...

The boys most suffering from problems in the lower limbs have benefited from it, at least during specific training sessions that involved stressing the ankles, during shooting sessions (Raiola, D'isanto, 2016) or in exercises without ball on speed or strenght (Izzo, R., Varde'i, C.H. 2018). ...

Volleyball is a way of scoring points through attacks; if a team cannot get points through attacks, then the chance of getting points will be owned by the opponent because in volleyball games, the game stops based on points. This study aims to: 1) describe the implementation of volleyball service and smash assessments in schools, 2) develop an assessment model in schools, which includes model design, validity, reliability, and effectiveness, and 3) describe the characteristics of school assessments. This research is development research modified from Borg and Gall. The development of the volleyball skills assessment model uses a three-stage procedure: the development stage, validation stage, and dissemination stage. The results of this study are: 1) Implementation of volleyball service and smash assessments in schools based on the opinions of coaches has not used process performance assessments. 2) Service and smash volleyball assessment instrument model with content validity construct, Aken's value of 0.946, including very good, reliability with 6 raters, Genova value of the interrater coefficient of 0.836, and Cohen Kappa K's value of the interrater coefficient of 0.856, both of which meet Lin's reliability requirement of 0.70; and effectiveness based on the opinion of the trainers can be used to assess students in the training process. 3) Characteristics of volleyball sports skills assessment at school showed 31 athletes or 43% were stated to be very competent, 29 athletes or 40.3% were declared competent, 11 athletes or 15.3% were stated to be less competent, and 1 athlete or 1.4% was declared incompetent. The conclusion is that the effectiveness of the assessment of volleyball skills can be used for the assessment of students in the learning process.

The science of sport applied to basketball has a rather long history, the first studies started at the end of the sixties and the beginning of the seventies (Beals et al. 1971), and over the years especially in the United States, due to the NBA phenomenon, the application of science and of statistics in performance analysis has increasingly taken hold. The analysis on the court, described by this study through video analysis and statistics, is based on the attempt to establish within some elite matches, the real effectiveness, statistically proven, of the technical element of the pick, which today characterizes most of the attacks in Italian Serie A basketball championship, and worldwide too, investigating the most common ones. Basically, the work done deals with the impact on the performance of the picking technique in basketball, taking into consideration the most common pick techniques in elite basketball such as the "Pick and roll, the vertical pick, the horizontal pick, the stagger and the double high pick and roll". The mathematical/statistical representation of the data obtained will help to the project hypotheses. From the results obtained from our study, it’s clear that pick and roll is therefore the most used precisely because it’s the pick that creates greater difficulty on defense, especially when it creates a "mismatch" (different physical and technical types of athletes facing each other). The successful Pick and Rolls are on average 20 per game and have a standard deviation of 6 so for 68% of the cases the Pick and Roll vary from 14 to 26.
