Three new species of the genus Crenitis Bedel, 1881 are described from China: C. aduncata sp. nov. (Yunnan), C. lianggeqiui sp. nov. (Yunnan and Sichuan) and C. obovata sp. nov. (Guangxi and Guizhou). All three species are as-signed to the subgenus Crenitis. New locality records in China are provided for C. apicalis (Reitter, 1896) (from Inner Mong...

Feng, C., Kou, J., Zhang, G.-L. & Wang, Z. 2020. Range extension of two xerophytic mosses in China based on molecular and morphological data. – Herzogia 33: 300 –308. An abnormal morphotype of Grimmia crinitoleucophaea Cardot, a species widely known as G. poecilostoma Cardot & Sebille, has been found in Inner Mongolian typical steppe, and its identification confirmed based on molecular and morphological data. Its morphological variation and taxonomic status are also discussed. Didymodon canoae C.Feng, J.Kou & L.Feng, a species previously known only from its type location in Inner Mongolia, was discovered in Tibet which extends its distribution range to a high elevation region of southwest China. Diagnostic characters, differences compared to similar species, distributional remarks and photographs of the two species are provided.
... Tortula transcaspica, a rare Asian species, was recently reported in Tibet, China (Kou et al. 2015b). However, reexamining its voucher specimen revealed that it was indeed T. neoeckeliae because all diagnostic characters of the Tibetan specimen were consistent with that of the new species. ...

A new species, Tortula neoeckeliae C.Feng & J.Kou, is described and illustrated from Guizhou Province of China. It is characterized by oblong-ovate to lingulate and unbordered leaves with broadly acute to rounded and awned apex, broadly revolute margins, long-excurrent costa with dorsal stereid band 1-2 cells thick, smooth or very sparsely hollow-papillose lamina, erect, nearly straight and exerted capsules with peristome of 32 strongly twisted filaments. The Chinese specimens previously assigned to Tortula transcaspica Broth. proved to belong to T. neoeckeliae, so that the report of T. transcaspica from China is erroneous. The new species is contrasted with similar species in Tortula and a key to Chinese species of the genus is provided. Copyright ©2018 by The American Bryological and Lichenological Society, Inc.

Cano, M. J. 2019. New data on the moss genus Stegonia (Bryophyta, Pottiaceae). – Herzogia 32: 338 –343. Stegonia hyalinotricha is recorded for the first time from South America. The species, until now known only from Mexico and the U.S.A. (California), was collected in the Monte Desert of Chubut (Argentina). The species is briefly characterized and illustrated. Stegonia mouretti, endemic from Morocco, is placed in synonymy with Pterygoneurum ovatum and the name lectotypified.

A new species belonging to Didymodon sensu lato, Vinealobryum guangdongensis, is described and illustrated from Nanling National Forest Park of Guangdong, China. It is characterized by noteworthily thick‐walled cells of the cauline central cylinder, ovate‐lanceolate leaves that are appressed when dry, acuminate to acute leaf apices, leaf base abruptly broadened and quickly narrowed to the insertion, leaf margins recurved in proximal 2/3 to 3/4, short‐excurrent costa with 0–1 layer of ventral stereids, laminal cells with conical or elliptical papillae either over the lumina or over transverse walls, presence of gemmae in the leaf axils, and KOH laminal color reaction red to reddish orange. This new species is compared with the most similar species and its ecology is discussed.

A new species, Didymodon jimenezii J.Kou, X.-M.Shao & C.Feng, is described and illustrated from Dinggyê County in the south Tibet of China. It is characterized by ovate-lanceolate leaves with acuminate or acute apex, lamina yellow with KOH, costa short-excurrent, widest and usually strongly spurred at midleaf, guide cells in 1 (2) layers, without ventral stereids, costal ventral epidermis with a pad of bulging cells and basal marginal cells with regularly thickened transverse walls. The new species is contrasted with similar species in the genus. © Copyright ©2016 by The American Bryological and Lichenological Society, Inc.
