Each individual has different self-control, as well as male and female self-control. Self-control has functions and benefits for life. The ability to control yourself will be very influential in the formation of better behavior. When an individual has low self-control, it will have a negative impact on himself and those around him. One of the factors that is thought to influence self-control is the use of a smartphone. Smartphones are one of the most popular communication tools for everyone, especially for teenagers. This study aims to analyze differences in students' self-control in using smartphones in terms of gender. This research uses a quantitative method with a comparative descriptive research type. The population of this study was 969 students at SMAN 4 Payakumbuh with a sample of 287 students. The sample was taken using a stratified random sampling technique. The instrument used was a "self-control research instrument" using a Likert model scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques and independent sample t-test techniques. The research findings show that: 1) Male students' self-control in using smartphones is in the moderate category, 2) Female students' self-control in using smartphones is in the moderate category, and 3) there is a significant difference between students' self-control in using smartphones in terms of gender with a significant value of 0.027 < 0.05, meaning that there is a significant difference between male students' self-control and female students' self-control in using smartphones, which means Ha is accepted.

Abstract The study aims to analyse: (1) The influence of brand image towards purchase decision on Xiaomi’s brand smartphones, (2) The influence of price towards purchase decision on Xiaomi’s brand smartphones, (3) The influence of product quality towards purchase decision on Xiaomi’s brand smartphones, (4) The influence of brand image, price, and product quality simultaneously towards purchase decision on Xiaomi’s brand smartphones, and (5) which is the the most dominant independent variable affect the purchase decision of Xiaomi’s brand smartphones. Data collection techniques is using quesionaire that have tested their validity dan reliability. The data analysis technique is using multiple linear regression. The result of the study indicate that all hypotheses can be accepted with the results: Brand image, price, and product quality partially and simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on puchase decision; Product quality is the most dominant variabel affecting purchase decision; and adjusted r 2 explained that the brand image, price, and product quality can explain the purchase decision by 67,6%. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis: (1) pengaruh citra merek terhadap keputusan pembelian smartphone merek Xiaomi, (2) pengaruh harga terhadap keputusan pembelian smartphone merek Xiaomi, (3) pengaruh kualitas produk terhadap keputusan pembelian smartphone merek Xiaomi, (4) pengaruh citra merek, harga, dan kualitas produk secara simultan terhadap keputusan pembelian smartphone merek Xiaomi, dan (5) variabel bebas mana yang paling dominan berpengaruh terhadap keputusan pembelian smartphone merek Xiaomi. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survei dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa aktif Universitas Trunojoyo Madura yang pernah membeli dan menggunakan smartphone merek Xiaomi. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah regresi linear berganda. Hasil penelian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh hipotesis dapat diterima dan diperoleh hasil: Citra merek, Harga, dan Kualitas produk secara parsial dan simultan berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap keputusan pembelian; Kualitas produk menjadi variabel yang paling dominan berpengaruh terhadap keputusan pembelian; dan adjusted r 2 menjelaskan bahwa variabel citra merek, harga, dan kualitas produk dapat menjelaskan variabel keputusan pembelian sebesar 67,6%. The objectives of this study is to investigate the influence of social aspects including social need and social influence toward dependency, the influence of dependency toward repeat purchase intention and technostress. Respondents in this research were 200 undergraduate students from universities in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This research has four hypotheses. The analytical technique used in this research were Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Model (SEM) using LISREL 10 software. The results of this research empirically proves that social aspects including social need and social influence has significant and positive effect toward dependency, and dependency has significant and positive effect toward repeat purchase intention and technostress. Each of hypotheses were accepted and elaborated more detail in discussion section.

Dictionary has an important role in the language learning process where the dictionary is used as a learning tool. As a learning tool, dictionary can be used independently because there a lot of features in it such as meaning, pronunciation, types of words, word order and structure. At present, dictionaries available in two versions, they are printed and digital versions which can be in the form of websites or applications. The aim of this research is to find out the use of English digital dictionaries by undergraduate students, especially majoring in non-English language program. Based on the results of interviews with informants and a questionnaire administered to 67 students, this study used a qualitative descriptive method with data analysis. The results of the study found that digital dictionaries are used for language learning, translation and to improve English knowledge. It is strongly suggested to government to give access to the internet since those dictionaries sometimes use network. The developer of the application is also encouraged to make it accessible offline. The research team also suggest for future researcher to find out about the effect of using a digital dictionary on English learning.

In this digital era, smartphones are considered a primary need in everyday life. A person's behavior that reflects the dependence on smartphones is when most of their activities were spent using a smartphone. This study aims to analyze the relationship among variables convenience, social influence, and social need towards the dependence on smartphones. Then, this study analyzed the relationship of dependence on smartphones towards repurchase intention. Respondents of this study were undergraduate students in Yogyakarta who are using smartphones for their daily activities. The analytical technique used in this study was structural equation modeling using LISREL 10.1 software. This study proposed four hypotheses then the result showed that all hypotheses were accepted.

Smartphone adalah telepon yang menggabungkan kemampuan-kemampuan canggih dan merupakan bentuk lanjutan dari Wireless Mobile Device (WMD) yang bisa berfungsi seperti komputer dengan menawarkan fitur-fitur yaitu Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), akses internet, e-mail, dan Global Positioning System (GPS). Indonesia merupakan pengguna aktif smartphone terbesar keempat di dunia setelah Cina, India, dan Amerika. Smartphone dilengkapi dengan tampilan light-emitting diode (LED) yang dapat menyebabkan penekanan produksi melatonin pada malam hari dan mempengaruhi regulasi sirkadian dari siklus tidur-bangun, sehingga mempengaruhi kualitas tidur. Tujuan: Mengetahui hubungan penggunaan smartphone pada malam hari terhadap kualitas tidur mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Dokter Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Andalas. Metode: Penelitian menggunakan metode analitik dengan desain cross-sectional yang dilakukan di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Andalas pada bulan Oktober 2019 – Juni 2020 . Teknik pengambilan sampel adalah stratified random sampling dengan jumlah total 261 sampel. Hasil: Penggunaan smartphone pada malam hari <2 jam (11,1 %), >2 jam (88,9%), kualitas tidur baik (37,9%), kualitas tidur buruk (62,1%). Hasil analisis bivariat didapatkan nilai p-value 0,024 (<0,05) yang berarti terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara penggunaan smartphone pada malam hari terhadap kualitas tidur mahasiswa Pendidikan Dokter Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Andalas. Simpulan: Terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara penggunaan smartphone pada malam hari terhadap kualitas tidur mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Dokter Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Andalas. ... The findings of the present study are supported by Andini's (2009) statement that shows YouTube is gaining on Facebook and Google as the most popular social media website worldwide. The current study is also in line with Backer's (2010) study in the United States, which determined that YouTube users were mainly adults ages between 18 and 34 years old who preferred this program over any cable network because it is free of charge, and any users can upload videos, write comments, or share videos with others if they have access to the Internet. The current study aims to detect the association between the compulsive use of smartphones and social interrelation among users, and to assess social isolation and social support among addicted users. An opportunistic sample of 1431 young Kuwaitis aged 17–26 years old was selected. A questionnaire was the major tool used. It was divided to three main parts: demographic information, using social media via smartphone, and some scales: Social Isolation Scale (SIS), Social Support Scale (SS), Smartphone Addiction Scale (SPAS), and Health Symptoms Scale (HSS). SPSS (version 23) was used and ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and regression coefficient were major tools. Data show that the low level of social isolation has a higher mean of smartphone addiction and overall and psychological symptoms, the high level of social support has a lower mean in the overall health and psychological symptoms related to smartphone misuse and the more social isolation, the more smartphone addiction; overall health, somatic and psychological symptoms. Also, the higher the mean of real social support, the fewer overall health, somatic and psychological symptoms, the lower the degree of social media use and the higher the degree of youth involvement in social groups and the higher the degree of using YouTube, the lower the level of social support among young people aged 22 years and above. Smartphone addiction, social support, psychological and somatic symptoms, and degree of involvement in social groups were significantly associated and predictable by level of social isolation. Technology highly effects the youth behavior.

This research aims to investigate the effect of exposure and affinity on dependency and the effect of dependency on repurchase intention in smartphone context. Exposure and affinity are considered important factors that trigger dependency. Exposure is a state of condition when making contact (exposed) with something. While affinity is a condition of users who want to be always close to something. This research has three hypotheses. Data were collected from 200 respondents using purposive sampling technique. Research data collection using a questionnaire that has been distributed to undergraduate students at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, then processed and analyzed using structural equation modeling techniques with LISREL software. The result of this research shows that exposure and affinity have positive and significant effect to dependency, meanwhile dependence has positive and significant effect on repurchase intention. All hypotheses in this study were accepted and will be discussed in detail in this research article.

Digital native students need digital art literacy to deal with the contemporary development of art and technology. It is quite simple, but the process behind the product was made student really enjoy and could express their artistic taste and expression. Abstrak Siswa yang lahir di era digital membutuhkan literasi seni digital untuk menghadapi perkembangan seni dan teknologi kontemporer. Artikel ini menggambarkan bagaimana telepon pintar dapat diguankan sebagai media yang cukup kuat untuk menunjang tujuan tersebut. Ketika banyak siswa bosan dengan pembelajaran seni yang tekstual saja, cukup dengan menggunakan telepon pintar ternyata dapat membuat pembelajaran lebih menyenangkan dan bermakna. Pada artikel ini, siswa di Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 8 di Pare, Jawa Timur, kelas 8, diarahkan untuk membuat karya seni berupa ilustrasi sederhana menggunakan aplikasi Sketchbook di telepon pintar. Hal ini cukup sederhana sebenarnya, namun proses di balik hasil akhir berupa produk ilustrasi tersebut telah benar-benar membuat siswa menikmati dan dapat mengekspresikan ekspresi dan selera seni masing-masing. Oleh karena itu, optimalisasi telepon pintar dapat menjadi salah satu di antara banyak cara lain untuk mendorong peningkatan literasi seni digital siswa yang lebih menyenangkan dan bermakna.
