It is often not an easy task, especially for budding researchers, to choose the optimal research method – or combinations of methods – to successfully handle a research problem. By “optimal method” I mean such an approach which will allow to answer all research questions pertinent to the research problem in a reliable and viable manner and - at the...

... It is stressed that the goal is to go beyond the rational opinions and understand the participants perspectives and the phenomena that is under the study (Styśko-Kunkowska, 2014). Researchers often use in-depth and face-to-face interviews, and as a research tool -semi-structured questionnaire containing a number of open questions (Zaborek, 2009;Gőtz & Jankowska, 2014). ...

Objective: The purpose of this paper is to develop a framework of cooperation and coopetition between retailers and key manufacturers from a perspective of retailers offering consumer durables. Research Design & Methods: In order to answer the research questions semi-structured, in-depth and face-to-face interviews with managers of six SMEs or large retailers operating in Poland and offering consumer durables were carried out. Findings: The empirical studies confirm both cooperation and coopetition between retailers and manufacturers – suppliers of consumer durables depending on, among others, the category of consumer goods and the balance of power between retailers and manufacturers. The scope of cooperation is not too wide, and concerns only some of the value chain processes indicated in the literature. Implications & Recommendations: Conducted studies are exploratory and need to be deepen with the use of quantitative research that will help determine the impact of the balance of power between manufacturers and retailers and the strength of retailer-manufacturer relations on the range / areas and financial and non-financial performance of this cooperation. Contribution & Value Added: The originality of this work lies in studying some aspects of retailers’ relations with their key suppliers operating in consumer durables market.
... As shown, wide possibilities of linking qualitative criteria with quantitative data exist. Dixon and Reynolds [11] describe the methodology of building quantitative models based on qualitative data in sociology and political sciences, Zaborek [12] in management, a large number of publications can be also found in medical science. It is though justified to ask whether and which any of groups of methods presented above is particularly exploitable for applications in the field of production engineering management. ...

The paper aims at recognizing the possibilities and perspectives of application of qualitative-quantitative research methodology in the field of economics, with a special focus on production engineering management processes. The main goal of the research is to define the methods that would extend the research apparatus of economists and managers by tools that allow the inclusion of qualitative determinants into quantitative analysis. Such approach is justified by qualitative character of many determinants of economic occurrences. At the same time quantitative approach seems to be predominant in production engineering management, although methods of transposition of qualitative decision criteria can be found in literature. Nevertheless, international economics and management could profit from a mixed methodology, incorporating both types of determinants into joint decision-making models. The research methodology consists of literature review and own analysis of applicability of mixed qualitative-quantitative methods for managerial decision-making. The expected outcome of the research is to find which methods should be applied to include qualitative-quantitative analysis into multicriteria decision-making models in the fields of economics, with a special regard to production engineering management.

Abstract: In today's working environment, employees can create common ideas for their jobs with their managers and colleagues. Morality behaviors of managers within the common mindset of employees can affect the attitudes of employees towards their colleagues and altruistic behavior. The main reason for the emergence of the research problem is the need to examine the main reasons underlying the moral behavior of managers in today's organizations, and to analyze the effectiveness of the employee's perspective on his colleagues and the level of sacrifice he puts towards the organization. The research sample consists of 382 employees working in different business environments. In the application of the research, valid and reliable results regarding the model were obtained and all the hypotheses formed were accepted. According to the results of the research, the morality behaviors of the managers were found to be positive and meaningful on the perspective of the employees towards their colleagues, the morality behavior of managers is positive and significant on the sacrifices of employees, employees' sacrifices have again positive and significant effects on their attitude towards their colleagues and it has been concluded that employees' sacrifices have a full mediating effect on the effect of manager morality on the attitude of the employee to his / her colleagues.

The monograph constitutes a crowning of research led in the field of particular methodology of management science, in the field of enhancing managerial decision-making sub-discipline in frames of the practical stream of the management science discipline. The monograph is a development of the research project in which the elaboration of a scientific method for the enhancement of managerial decision-making processes through the Modular Multicriteria Managerial Decision-Making Model (MMUMADEMM) has been proposed.
