The objective of this research is to understand how gender is related to opportunities of sustainable entrepreneurship. The data was gathered from Finnish SMEs, and it has responses from 202 SME owner-managers. Of the SME owner-managers, 28 % were women and 72 % male. Most of the SMEs were small sized and employed under 50 employees. First, we developed a taxonomy of green entrepreneurship by building an instrument with 10 items (7-point Likert scale) based on the definitions of green SMEs. For building the taxonomy, we performed an exploratory factor analysis, which produced three factors. The first factor was named as “green entrepreneurs”. This factor measures the behaviour related to seeking business opportunities from green transition and reducing the negative impact of SME’s operations. The second factor was named as “green missionaries”. This factor measures behaviour related to active promotion of green transition and the SME’s vision to improve the state of the environment. The third factor was named as “no concern for environmental issues”. SMEs with high values in this factor represent SMEs who think that environmental issues do not concern their business or industry. Based on these factors, scales were created with acceptable reliability (Cronbach’s alphas over 0,70). Secondly, we performed t-tests to test mean differences between men and women in these scales. Results show that women have higher mean values in the scale “green entrepreneurs” (4,9 vs. 4,3), and lower mean values in the scale “no concern for environmental issues” (2,8 vs. 3,2). No mean differences between men and women were found in the scale “green missionaries”. The results indicate that women approach the opportunities offered by sustainable entrepreneurship differently than men. They are more proactive in seeking new business opportunities and are more inclined than men to promote sustainability principles in their own business operations. This research sheds light on how women and men engage differently in green business initiatives, providing valuable insights for fostering gender-inclusive sustainability strategies.
... However, few studies have explored green entrepreneurship behavior from the student perspective. Examining this perspective is crucial, given that previous studies have emphasized the significance of institutional support and entrepreneurial education in cultivating a green entrepreneurial mindset and promoting a more robust green economy (Khuc et al., 2023;Licastro and Sergi, 2021;Silajdži c et al., 2015). The thought-to-action pathway in the case of green entrepreneurs does not follow the traditional entrepreneurial typology (O'Neill and Gibbs, 2016) and hence requires systematic and continuous support. ...
... Developing an entrepreneurial mindset is a longitudinal process involving acculturing individuals' beliefs and ability toward divergent green action (Lemaire et al., 2022). It is also important that such education is not limited to business schools but also be inculcated across other streams such as environment, architecture and engineering more systematically (Katz et al., 2016;Silajdži c et al., 2015). Universities and other educational institutions have been observed to play an instrumental role in heightening environmental awareness and motivation to bring forth novel entrepreneurial ideas. ...

Purpose This study aims to emphasize the youth community’s importance in sustaining green entrepreneurial efforts. The study used the stimulus organism response framework as the theoretical base using two separate studies. Design/methodology/approach Study 1 commences the development of the student green engagement construct through a focus group, panel discussion and exploratory factor analysis, which supported five items. Study 2 measures the relationship of student green engagement with green entrepreneurial intention by mediating university entrepreneurial support and entrepreneurial motivation. Data from 448 students were gathered from five Malaysian private institutions using a purposive sampling technique. Findings Findings indicate a robust association of student green engagement (stimuli) with green entrepreneurial intention (organism). Furthermore, mediation analysis shows strong mediating effects of university entrepreneurial support and entrepreneurial motivation on green entrepreneurship behavior (response). Originality/value The study’s findings can help the universities and concerned governmental departments instill a sense of sustainable entrepreneurship in university students.

Sustainable entrepreneurship provides a chance to achieve profitability while reducing environmentally damaging economic behavior. The idea of sustainable entrepreneurship has been given significant attention from academics. However, the existing research has not been able to build a definite theoretical framework, so it had to be analyzed and compiled to expand existing concepts. This study used a literature review method with a bibliometric analysis approach. The purpose of this study was to analyze the research evolution on sustainable entrepreneurship topics through several bibliometric indicators and conduct content analysis to assess the implementation of sustainable entrepreneurship in driving sustainable development goals. The research was conducted on 129 articles taken from the Scopus database between 2007 and 2023 using five keywords. The data was processed using VOSviewer and analyzed by quantitative descriptive. The results show that the development of publications related to "sustainable entrepreneurship" is very fluctuating, and the scientific network map forms six clusters. Furthermore, content analysis finds that the implementation of sustainable entrepreneurship in driving SDGs will be optimal if supported by the right business model, government intervention, and participation of higher education institutions.

This research aims to investigate the impact of perceived happiness on university students' inclination toward Vietnam's green entrepreneurship trend. A total of 356 students at a private university in Vietnam joined the online questionnaire using a 5-point Likert scale. Structural equation modeling analysis indicated that social support, self-esteem, extraversion, resilience, social relationships, and perception of employment significantly influence perceived happiness. Moreover, perceived happiness noticeably affects students' intentions to start a green business. The findings will provide valuable insights for educational institutions to enhance the quality of training and guide students toward green startup models.
... Most research has highlighted the positive influence of institutions on sustainable entrepreneurship (Meek, Pacheco, & York, 2010). For instance, policy intervention could lead to enable sustainable businesses (Silajdžić, Kurtagić, & Vučijak, 2015). What's more, initiatives based of knowledge transfer by government (De Palma & Dobes, 2010) and training in higher education institutions and research centres (Marques et al., 2018) are regarded as enablers in SE. ...
Chapter
Sustainable entrepreneurship has become a central topic in research, although there exists a lack of study between the approaches to internationalization in sustainable businesses. This chapter aims at providing an examination of the relationship between SE and internationalization. In this way, the question of how and why firms involved in SE enter international markets, their challenges and difficulties in the process, and the different pathways are explored. Especially, the focus lies on the impact of SE involvement on the engagement in an international process. To achieve this goal, two main streams of literature are used: internationalization theories and sustainable entrepreneurship theory. The discussion section offers some future research questions worth studying.

Purpose While the significance of green entrepreneurial orientation (GEO) has been acknowledged, it is still not fully understood how GEO influences green innovation (GI). Depending on the natural resource-based view (NRBV), the practice-based view (PBV) and contingency theory (CT), the authors explore how GEO affects GI via green manufacturing practices (GMPs) and the moderating role of green technology turbulence (GTT). Design/methodology/approach Using the data gathered from large firms in Yemen, the suggested model was tested through hierarchical regression analysis using the PROCESS Macro in SPSS. Findings The empirical results reveal that GEO is positively related to GMP, which in turn is positively related to GI. Importantly, GMP mediates the link between GEO and GI. The results also demonstrate that GTT positively moderates the GEO-GI link. Originality/value This study makes a valuable contribution to the existing literature on sustainability and holds significant importance for managers seeking to enhance their understanding of utilizing GEO for fostering GI.
... The existing literature that explores green tourism entrepreneurship among students of higher education institutions is based on internal factors (e.g., personality and individual characteristics of entrepreneurs) or external factors (e.g., entrepreneurial environment, policy support, entrepreneurship education) (Lemaire et al., 2022;Ogunlela, 2018;Yi, 2021). With regard to studies into the relationship between tourism enterprise and university education (Mathushan & Pushpanathan, 2020;Silajdžić et al., 2015), the function of the university in the development of entrepreneurship has attracted much attention. The notion of entrepreneurial activity has been added to and later developed by including the development of entrepreneurship and understanding of tourism business creation among the students of higher learning institutions (Fragoso et al., 2020). ...

Entrepreneurs have an essential role to play in bringing positive change and growth to the world’s economy. Entrepreneurship is a necessary aspect of economic growth because of its contribution to people’s welfare through employment opportunities. Likewise, institutions of higher learning offer compulsory entrepreneurship courses for students with the support of government policies to encourage students towards entrepreneurship. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the factors influencing the students’ intentions to become green entrepreneurs. The study uses the extended theory of planned behaviour model (TPB) and entrepreneurial education to develop a theoretical framework. The model has been examined on 350 tourism university students using structural equation modelling. The key findings indicate that Ajzen’s TPB theory of planned behaviour and entrepreneurial education can be extensively expanded to determine sustainable entrepreneurial intentions in developing economies such as India. Attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioural control, and entrepreneurial education are antecedents of entrepreneurial intent. Our results have valuable implications for aspiring entrepreneurs, policymakers, and scholars.
... Motivation for entrepreneurship is a critical aspect in promoting the growth and development of businesses. Entrepreneurship is a prominent and influential phenomenon in the contemporary business world, as it plays a crucial role in creating business opportunities for entrepreneurs in many settings and contexts. It motivates people to start their own businesses rather than seeking job opportunities. In this context, entrepreneurial motivation is suggested as a strong predictor for desired entrepreneurship development, which in turn leads to environmental improvement and enterprise growth. The current research focuses on prominent concerns pertaining to entrepreneurship and aims to investigate key linked factors such as entrepreneurial motivation, enterprise development, and green entrepreneurship. Data was collected from entrepreneurs in Punjab, Pakistan who were actively implementing environmentally friendly methods in their firms, with the aim of investigating any possible associations. The findings of current study indicate a significant impact of entrepreneurial motivation on the development of enterprises. Moreover, current study results suggest that green entrepreneurship plays a significant role in mediating the relationship between entrepreneurial motivation and the development of enterprises.
... According to the OECD (2011), GE is a commitment to producing products that comply with environmental requirements. Silajdžić et al. (2015) put forward a deeper concept of GE, defining GE as businesses reducing or avoiding processes that negatively affect the natural environment and benefits both individuals and society. Jones (2017) described GE as companies carrying out environmentally committed business practices, which are reflected in all of its goods and products, and as a strategy for establishing relationships between companies and the environment, and includes employees and customers (Berchicci, 2008). ...
... To analyze the influence of GE on sustainability, Silajdžić et al. ... The management practice of an eco-green entrepreneurial business is a new field of study and a special form of social or environmental entrepreneurship (Kuckertz et al., 2020;Murphy et al., 2020;Parthipan et al., 2021). Green entrepreneurship is the process of identifying, assessing and leveraging entrepreneurial opportunities that benefit society as a whole and the community by minimizing the impact on the company's natural environment (Faleye et al., 2018;Silajdži c et al., 2015). Unlike traditional entrepreneurship, which focuses primarily on maximizing profits, green entrepreneurship aims to build a business that balances the three ultimate economic, social and environmental aspects (see Figure 3) (Piwowar-Sulej et al., 2021;Rowan & Casey, 2021). ...

Despite the contributions of modern business practices to environmentally sustainable transformation, there is not enough information on different types of green technologies and their applications. Therefore, it is essential to identify and classify business models that focus on the management practices of green technology. While the literature on green technology business models has received increasing attention over the last decade, interdisciplinary research into this growing phenomenon is still in its infancy and fragmented. The study focuses on the need for green technology for water management worldwide. Such management practice of green technology is a research gap in the study area because no one has worked in this field before. There should be research to address people's management practices of green entrepreneurial business. The literature highlights that the issue of water crises may be minimized with the management practices of green entrepreneurial business and by applying global green water treatment techniques. The authors believe this study would be very beneficial for future research on policymaking based on management practices of green technology that promote environmental sustainability through a green business environment.
